Send 3rd party module data over Canbus

So, I'm sitting and thinking.

1. I want to try adding 2 EGT sensors pre and post turbo from a MY17 to the MY15. I think it will work and I already have a patch loom so I'm hoping life will be easy as there is provision in the PCM for 4 in total including the existing manifold EGT. From what I have seen I think the PCM will send the data over the Canbus without an issue.

2. I want to monitor Lambda/Air Fuel Ratio through the vehicle Canbus to display on an Ultragauge/Scangauge, Torque etc. I found this http://www.ecotrons.com/products/wideba ... r-alm-can/ . It can be intergrated and will work when optioned with our 11 bit CAN ID plus can be assigned its own Module ID 07E3 for instance. It can also be optioned with the LSU4.9D sensor which is specific for diesel vehicles. I'm going to contact them but I believe it will work.

3. A module that can send data over the Canbus for our tools to monitor eg. boost, dual battery connection, trailer plug connection. Basically what ever you can think of. I found this http://www.enovationcontrols.eu/product ... erface.htm which has 4 inputs ranging from -2 to +35 VDC. You could add 10 of these if you felt the need, possibly displaying individual voltages for multiple batteries in the vehicle plus van trailer etc. The possibilities are endless.

My reasoning is I have a tuned vehicle and want to know what is going on. I also do not want 10 ugly aftermarket gauges sitting in the vehicle and I want to be able to use our current software and gauges to display the data. I have 101 ideas for what could be monitor and what data we could inject into the vehicle to possibly display information from current gauges that are missing data.

Anyway I'm think out loud and am open the other devices or ideas.

Interesting module, Stewart. However, it uses J1939 and I dont think the vehicle CAN does.

Yes you are correct.

Pretty confident the makers of option 2 would come to the party. 11 bit CAN is an option and 11 bit CAN was really an official part of J1939.

No. 3 option, no. It would require changes but the engineers seem open to making it compatible.

Hi Stewart,
I take it that air/fuel ratio is still not available ?. I added the pid from obdlink but no results, just 0. ?

Generally air fuel is used in petrol engines that have an oxygen sensor. No Ranger or Everest models have an oxygen sensor so it will always be zero.

Ranger also came out with petrol engine in different countries.
