Okay, I'm a 71 year old luddite and I need help it setting up Forscan. I have purchased a dedicated laptop computer and I have a OBD dongle (Bluetooth) -- all I need is someone to help me set it up - at a reasonable hourly rate or charge for your assistance.

I live in the Blue Mountains near Katoomba and I'm quite willing to drive to say Bathurst in the west or to Parramatta in the east, --- that sort of area.

Any takers ???

How about setting it up with phone assistance?

Or I can go one better, you can install software that allows people to log on remotely provided you give them the code. If you have somebody that you trust it's a safe and easy process.
I have used this to problem solve my dear old mums laptop issues from work.
You can monitor the progress in real time while the other person is is showing you what's going on.

Yes, I have "Team Viewer" but I also need to have some hands on education in how to use the Forscan Program as well as loading it and setting up the lap top.

Ian, I am your age and I figured it all out by myself, it's not as hard to use as it may look.

I am sure that with a little phone help you could manage.

A start would be to have your dongle plugged into the second port, depending of course on which one you have, and paired to your pc.

That is easy but again phone help would have that sorted in 10 mins.

Yep Team viewer was exactly what I was talking about, no reason between that and phone call in real time that we could not get you started!
I'd be happy to help!

Don't forget you need an Extended Licence for Forscan before you start.

Iain, what brand model bluetooth dongle did you purchase? Just want to clear this up before you go any further.

Hi Stewart,

its a OBDLink MX. On the underside of it the script is as follow's;
OBDLink MX Rev: 2.2/R4 Mfr. 2017.03.17
Contains FCC ID X3ZBTMOD4

From memory its the one I was advised to purchase from America. How do I obtain an "extended license " ???

Regards,

Iain

Is it black or red?

Also look here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1541

That's where your dongle has to go, not easy if you aren't flexible anymore.

I got one of our sons to plug it in for me.

It can be plugged in any time and left there.

I sent you my phone number and when I get back I can help, a bit hard to help from here as my gear is 700klms away

If you want to monitor things you will need the OBDLink app installed on your Android phone or tablet.

Something appears to be missing from most of these posts. I'm going to clear it out a bit.

Lain, I have PM'd you as has Ross. Feel free to return either message and we will take it from there.

Hi Stewart (again to-day)

Okay I've loaded "TeamViewer 13" onto my Lenovo Lap-top and so I should be ready.

Just give me a call day before and nominating a time convenient to you and I'll be ready, dongle plugged in, mobile on hands free and sitting in the car ready to go.

Regards,

Iain
