Hi Guys

i decided to tinker with the roller shutter motor that i got from a next gen Wildtrak to install on my next gen XLT. i managed to find out that the motor is manufactured by a company called LUCAS TVS. https://www.lucas-tvs.com/shutter-motor/

i also found that it is controlled by something called a GMR sensor, I will attach pics of the circuit board i pulled out and the wiring diagram i grabbed from their website. not sure if this will be useful to anybody, but hopefully somebody knows a thing or two about GMR sensors and can work something out from these pics.

Thanks

I think the GMR sensor would just detect the current of the motor so that when the shutter is completely open or completely closed, the motor current will increase as it tries to open or close the shutter more and the sensor will detect this so it can cut power. Its probably how the window regulators have the pinch protection to stop limbs being removed. That way there is no need for a limit switch to stop the motor at the correct points either.

The part No. of the module 14H119 is the same as the px3 ranger module so control would probably be very similar. The "gmr" sensor shown is a type of hall effect sensor to detect the position and movement of the roller shutter. As the motor rotates a magnet passes over the sensor and the voltage output varies according to the magnet position. It is triggered a number of times as the shutter travels, the number of times it triggers and the corresponding voltage will indicate the shutter position to determine if it is open, closed or jammed

i spoke to a guy today that installs these "after market" Wildtrak electric rollers for Ford, he or the guy at ford that put me on to him (i can't remember who honestly) told me that the module is under the drivers seat on the next gen ranger and when wildtrak owners pull the electric roller out they leave the module and wiring in otherwise "the system throws all sorts of faults"

anyway long story short the guy i was put onto told me he uses a sunroof module when he installs these electric rollers, it also operates as one touch. apparently the sunroof module has a feature built in that prevents the motor from burning out when it reaches max rotation and he is in the process of trying to get it to work with the factory key fob.

unfortunately he would not give me a part number for the sunroof module as its part of his business installing these, makes sense. anybody smarter smarter than me want to look into the sunroof module?

I installed an electric roller shutter on a 2017 wildtrack sourced the module online they come up on ebay from time to time. the module on px3 is under the passenger seat next to the trailer tow module. You will have to run the wiring as it is not standard. A couple of changes in BCM coding and (thanks to SAEB) it works as per factory including key fob. Most wreckers won't sell the module as they want to sell complete with shutter but they do come up on ebay. Just search for the 14H119 part number. I did remove a module from a 2020 wildtrack and it didn't throw any fault codes, maybe different on next gen rangers. The picture of the GMR sensor and info from Lucas tvs is identical to px3 rangers and the module part No. is the same so I would think that setup would be very similar on next gen.

Hi guys

Any updates on where the roller shutter module is located on a next gen ranger?

Cheers

so the module for the next gen ranger is under that blower motor. dose that mean in order to have it integrate completely on say a xlt you need to remove half the wiring from a wildtrak to install it on to your xlt?
