It is in non asbuilt BCM "Power Point timeout" , figure is in seconds. Don't bust my nut if the description is slightly out, I'm not in fron tof Forscan right now. Use the filter box up the top and type power...

Hi All,
I seem to want to do the opposite, by way of turning off the power points with the "accessories" on the key. I currently have several USB items running form one and want to use the other to trigger an accessory relay to control other things like radios etc. I have an aux battery via a dc dc charger which is OK with an ign cct but want to have an accessories controlled CT from the aux battery.

Now, sometimes the sockets turn off when the key is off and the drivers door is opened and sometimes it stays on for an undetermined time. This would not be too much of an issue, but...... when I lock the car, and then something happens (as yet undetermined apart from it seems to be related to things having been kept on by the trigger from the power socket CCT), the alarm gets triggered.

This is kinda of a PIA when we are away in a caravan park or something in the middle of the night.....

So, after that long preamble....

If I turn off(??) the delay will the sockets work like a normal accessories socket with the key?

Is it possible, as Stewart mentioned once, that the sockets will also turn on with the "stereo on" button? and run for the 60 mins or so that the head unit stays on?

BTW, by radios I mean UHF, VHF and HF radios. Also want to get a dash cam behaving as it should etc.

TIA

Grant

Not sure if I understand or not. You want it to turn off straight away, so try setting power point timeout to 1, which is 1 second.

Later vehicle were 1 sec by default but looking at your year it may still be set at 5400 sec, 90 mins or was it 4800 sec. Anyway you get the idea.

Thanks for the reply Stewart,
I just tried using Forscan for the first time and it doesnt like my bluetooth adaptor at all (I usually just use Torque to monitor things). If I order one from your store, do you have a pickup option??

Can do, best to send me a PM. Pickup location will be Seaford.

Hi everyone,
I also can't change the power point timeout on my MY 2017 (I changed the value from 1s to 3600s but it doesn't work).
Has anyone found a solution?

Thank you.

Hi Stewart,
thanks for the answer, but I didn't understand well.
Do you suggest me to extend power point timeout using as built?
If so, what are the parameters to replace?

Thank you very much!

I think he wants you to post your BCM As-built settings.
Send him your saved file & he will fix it so you can set your time out.

If it did not work then there are 2 reasons, 1st is battery state of charge is low otherwise or 2nd is an additional asbuilt change needs to be made. Until I can see the saved BCM asbuilt (Being a Euro vehicle) then I can not advise how to fix.

Hi Stewart,

If you look back at previous posts on this thread there are other 2017 Ranger owners who could not adjust the timeout, me included.
One person is from Australia so don't think it is just a Euro thing.

The UK Rangers at least are made in South Africa and as i am in South Africa (and perhaps the BCMs are similar) i can send my as built?
Would it be better to PM it to you?
I would like the option to adjust the timeout when i need to.

I see in this thread viewtopic.php?p=4194&hilit=timeout#p4194 you suggest a change on an Everest.
This appears to have completely disabled the timeout keeping the 12V sockets on permanently with key out.
Will this work on a Ranger?

It would be great if this in combination with the timeout could be done to allow a time to be set.

Keeping in mind that the South African Rangers, at least on the 2.2's do not have a BMS.
They do however have some left over bits of code that randomly come up with messages about a flat battery...
