PID for DPF Temp

I was looking at attempting to monitor the Temp of the DPF to tell if its doing a burn or not. (or something else that will let me know)

The closest PID's that I think might be it on my gauge are "Catalyst Temperature Bank 1, Sensor 1" and/or "Catalyst Temperature Bank 1, Sensor 2"

Are these the correct ones to watch or should I be looking for something else ??

I use an OBDLink dongle and used Stewart's custom PID.

I can tell you it it correct as when it hit 100% one night I got out of the car and I could definitely smell it burning.

Looking forward to the day I get game and have it removed.

EGT 11, 12 and 13 as these are the EGT sensors on the DPF.

PID 03F4, 03F5, 03F6.

From memory one of them uses a different math formula.

I monitor "EGT13" which gives me post turbo temp. I know when it's doing a burn as the temps soars up to just over 600 degrees.

The reader I have has a head up unit I've put on the dash, but I cant do custom PID's... (I'm not going to say too much about the unit as 'The walls have ears"

I've got it currently displaying BOOST (MAP-BARO), EGT (Exhaust Gas Temp 11), ECT (Engine Coolant Temp), CATEMPT11 (Catalyst Temp Bank 1 Sensor 1).

I hope these are the correct ones to monitor what I'm wanting to look at, I'll try changing my CATEMP11 to EGT13 to better monitor the DPF temp as suggested.
I have also noticed that the EGT one I'm watching seems to sit at about 140, so I hope that's the correct sensor to monitor too..

I found some of those ears by the way! Flick me a PM on the unit.

I do not have any EGT sensors unfortunately so someone else will give you a heads up on temps, Gerry?

Only sensor I have is the EGRT sensor in the exhaust manifold but they top out at 215 degrees so is useless.

The only EGT sensor I found that actually worked was EGT13 as I mentioned in my earlier post. It normally sits on 300+ and up to 450 or so when towing through the hills. It never goes beyond 500 except when the DPF does a burn when it shoots to around 620 or so.

This of course only applies to models fitted with a DPF.

EGT12 & EGT13 aren't going to work for me :(

I tried them both last night, both give me strange and fluctuating data.. the numbers bounce all over the place and were ranging from -100 to +9000

You are best to plug in Forscan and check the PIDs there first. They will be the correct PIDs and math for the Ranger. If they are correct there and show the correct data then let me know and I will look at doing custom PIDs for your device.

I had a fight with FORScan Lite (Android version) on my way home, I loaded up EGT11, EGT12, EGT13, EGT14.... 14 doesn't appear to work, but 11-13 shows data that appears correct (didn't fluctuate like on the other gauge)

What you have to keep in mind is most of the generic Ford PIDs out there do not necessarily support the Ranger. Leave it with me, I will let you know when I have it sorted.

All EGT11,12,13 work for me. All sit within 30-50*C of each other and fluctuate predictably while driving. Every now and then ( only while I had been monitoring EGT11 ) it would spike up to around 700*C while under load. I am assuming this is doing a DPF burn. It hasn't done it again since I found EGT12 and 13 to monitor aswell which was only this afternoon.

Does anyone know which EGT I should be monitoring to get a Pre-DPF temp so I know exactly when my engine is struggling?.
