Diffs, transfer case and manual transmission service

With the rig on 50k it was time to dump the running gear oils. Rear diff all good, clean, looked like honey running out. Manual trans and front diff also looked ok. Only issue to watch was the transfer case - the magnet was chock a block with iron filings! Oil was also discolored. When drained very little actually came out. Am thinking it was never filled properly from new. Cleaned it all up, filled up all the diffs, transfer and trans with penrite oils. Drained and flushed the coolant. Drives smoothly, shifts smoothly. It's worth changing the drive line oils reasonably frequently as Ford's 10 year 240k intervals are a bit of bs - especially if the rig is used off road. Fords extreme use 60k and 75k drive line schedule is too long.

Everyone that posts after a ATF change mentions the transmission is much smoother on changing.
I also noticed it and it is still smooth, Penrite products👍👍

Was out towing the trailer today for a few hundred km and have to say the smoothness in the manual trans is now awesome. It wasn't bad before but now it's effortless. 50k all fluid services for the win.

Never having owned a 4x4 before (had it a few years now), how easy or hard is it to change the transfer case and front diff oil and how? Any tips. I used to do all my Falcon diffs and trannies myself so I ain't affraid.

You have done it before so won't be a rocket science job.

Only word of caution is do not fill the front diff to the fill hole, use the specified amount of fluid or it can overtime blow the front drive seals out.

A quick YouTube search throws up plenty of how to vids. It's a really worthwhile simple job.
