From Saeb's advice, I left it for 15 minutes and it all came good... All resolved.

For anyone else the above fault is pretty normal and the above one has been resolved.
Turn off the ignition and have a long drink. Turn ignition back on again and it should be sorted.
Worst case remove negative battery terminal for a minute and reconnect. There are other ways but that is another tutorial.

Is that file only compatible with AU or will it work for USA models? Thanks.

Pity Ford wasnt smart enough to enable QWERTY keyboard as default, ony about 98% of the population would use it.!!!
Retards.!

Hey Seab.
I’ve just checked and mine is 3.0
Do I have to step update each version?
Just had car serviced. They always put a map update sticker on my screen. Is map update different to Sync version update?
Cheers

Pretty sure Sync 3.0 is not possible to upgrade to 3.2 and up.
Since APIM hardware is different.

Has anyone checked Fords owner website to see if it actually says that an update is available for them?

From the ford website I was on 3.3, and said an upgrade was available. Downloaded it and installed it. Car still reports 3.3. Ford website now reports I'm on 3.3 and is the latest available. Yet turn the wifi on and it starts to download an update jr3t-14g381-as_1564487023000.tar.gz. So slow and don't think it completes.

I don't believe the hardware is that different between versions as there is a tool that can re-partition the emmc so that an APIM with 3.0 can be upgraded to 3.2 and beyond.
The main differences seem to be between number of USB ports soldered on (1 or 2), Non Nav (8GB), Nav- most of the world (32GB) and Nav- Europe (64GB).
There are people in the US, Asia, Europe and Russia doing this with their 3.0 APIMs......Nav and non-Nav.
We seem to be the only ones not doing it.....

So I tried to do this and had a few issues.
I'm 99% positive I had updated to Sync 3.3 previously via myFord website, yet is showing 3.0 when I changed over to Sync 3. I logged onto myFord and went through the update process, as it was showing there was an update. The update is still showing as 3.0 and myFord is now saying I have the latest version.
I don't have a 3.3 download, to then be able to update to 3.4. Does anyone have ideas on how I can do this?
Cheers,
James

Hi and cheers for membership. When doing step 3 is the file saved to my hard drive or the USB? if saved to the USB then renamed and copied into the folder is the original file deleted or left? Thanks for any help.
Cheers

Download to hard drive, rename, then copy or move to USB. If you COPY, then a copy stays on hard drive. If you MOVE, it is deleted off hard drive

Much appreciated, as always Stewart. Worked a treat for me; I love the fresh, modern look of the various pages on SYNC3 now. Not that the previous were bad though. The "Nav malfunction, contact dealer for service" message popped up initially, but came good by the following day when I used the car.

Hi all, I am at a total loss as to what I am doing wrong. I download both Sync_3.4_Upgrade.zip and
http://bit.ly/2ohn7fG to my hard drive. I then copy Sync 3.4 to my USB drive, then copy
http://bit.ly/2ohn7fG into the SyncMyRide folder. The Sync 3 unit finds the USB and goes no further. If I extract Sync_3.4_Upgrade.zip onto the USB then copy
http://bit.ly/2ohn7fG into the SyncMyRide folder I then get an error message on the Sync 3 unit. Any help is appreciated. My Sync is a Ver 3.3 I have renamed the file as in step 4. Thanks

No, you are running the latest version for your hardware.
Map update is entirely different to a system update.

Possible but not straight forward for an average user. Software and firmware process and it can never go back. Also any issues and Ford cannot go back or either.
There are other issues like map updates where the dealer USB will install 3.0 maps which are not fully compatible with Sync 3.3 or above.

Look at what version is currently is on the system. General/Settings/About Sync. It will be Sync 3.0 I suspect as there was never a legit working update from 3.0 3.3 from factory.
