Distance to Empty Not Reading

I have "Distance to Empty" configured in one of my displays. However, it doesn't register anything. Just has a yellow dash in the centre of the meter.

It's not able to be edited. Looks like a built in PID in the Torque Pro app.

Does anyone have a custom PID that I can use which will work?

Thanks

If in the app it will be a calculated figure and not a PID. Someone else that uses the app may be able to help with the setup of DTE in Torque, if not google might be your friend.

Thanks Stewart. I'll do some googling.

In the meantime I just received and plugged in my OBDLink MX+. Maybe that'll pick it up when I go out soon.

DTE is in the OBDlink ap but the DTE in the Cluster is more accurate

Thanks. Not that it's a biggie, but as you say, that info is on the dash under fuel economy. Just fiddling with a new gadget and seeing how it all works.

Which app do you prefer: OBDLink or Torque-Pro? I've installed Torque and currently comfortable with it. I put OBD on the phone today, quickly paired it with the MX+ and had a quick play. Doesn't seem to be as easy to configure as the other one. But maybe that's me.

As for DTE calcs, are any of them accurate? Of all the vehicles which I've owned it's probably my bike which seems to be the more accurate of them all.

Cheers.

OBDlink app is easy, have a read here for Custom pid

There are many PID's in there already, pick travel or fuel to get the DTE pid

I think a lot of the Torque pre configured PID, s don't suit the Ranger, you will need Custom entries

Getting back to fuel economy, last night going to work the DTE alarm popped up, 80 kays to empty (this is on the Ranger's dash). By the time I got to work it was down to 40 kays. It's a 11km drive.

Last night, during a break I edited some things in the Torque Pro app and went down to the car to test them. Alarm popped up, 30 kays to empty, even though it was sitting there idling.

When I drove home it got down to 10 kays to empty by the time I pulled into a servo.

The fuel "gauges" in Torque were also showing various values including 2l left in the tank and varied percentage rates for fuel left and so on.
The Ranger supposedly has an 80l tank. It took 63l to the first click. I let it settle and tried again. 1 more litre went in, so, 64l, meaning that it had 16l remaining.

So, both the Ranger's calcs and Torque's calcs were all somewhat out.

I s'pose that it's a good thing that they're reading pessimistically, gives me a buffer to get it filled. But driving 20km to and from work it went from 80 to empty to 10 from empty, or 70 km supposedly used in such a short distance. My other cars have had similar readings but nothing like this.

When I filled up the ford dash DTE read 570km, but Torque was a bit more generous allowing me around 760km before empty. Fuel economy figures were pretty much spot on as I enter these details into an app for record keeping (tax).
