Grinding noise after selecting 2H PX2 2017

I had to reverse up a steep driveway today that usually ends up with the rear wheels spinning. I put her into 4L and reversed up the drive. Once at the top, I put it in N, selected 2H and waited for the "Shifting in progress" to finish. Once it had completed, I went to go from N to R but it just felt like it was grinding gears (felt through the shifter handle). I eventually got it into R. No issues driving it in 2H but I am hesitant to use 4WD again until I have an idea what caused this issue. Any ideas?

I have found the dash light merely indicates what should have occurred, not what definitely has occurred! So, it probably wasn’t in H properly, but a solenoid moved enough to trigger a micro switch to say “it’s in gear”. Hence, unless it persists…
Information for others as this is an older post but also interesting to know your outcome.
Cheers,
Dave

Loading the trans in LR on probably a concrete/solid driveway will cause the trans to wind up.
A loose surface is recommended for 4wd use as it allows the wheels to spin.
Try shifting the trans into D and drive forward a short distance and it should unwind anbe easy to select Normal
