Now, for what you pay for the vehicle to start with, this is something that should come as a factory fitted part across all variants.

Complaint aside, here's what you do.

Firstly, you'll need a 6mm and 7mm socket, small ratchet, phillips head screwdriver (I think), beer, a fine flathead or an electrical pin stabby tool, torx bits, electrical tape, knife and a trim tool.

1- jump onto eBay, buy one of the LED rings for about $15 and wait for it to arrive. Once it does, unwrap it and carefully make sure the wires are still attached and test it to make sure it works before you go pulling your Ranger apart.

2- remove the rubber bolt caps from the handle on your drivers a-pillar, two bolts, remove handle, remove pillar trim and unplug the large black plug. Identify the white/brown stripe and black/blue stripe wires. These are for positive and negative wires (in that order, check the attached pics. Sorry, shoulda taken more, I'll add next time I put it apart for the next adventure :D )

3- Mine is PX2 XLS so I just have a fuse box cover in front of my right knee. Mates PXI XLT has a compartment there. Either way you need to rip whatevers there off.

4- To the left of where the fuse cover/compartment was will be a 6mm (or 7mm) bolt, take it out and remove the lower dash panel. Be careful not to snap the 4 plastic tags that hold it in place, use ur trim tool or a flat screwdriver if u need to. Then, under the steer column are two for some reason differently sized torx screws. Take them out and lower the cover. Around the ignition barrel is a plastic ring. Remember where the ignition off point is on that ring. There are two lift to release tags. Be careful not to snap them off. Once removed, peel the tape off your LED, mount it up and run the wires thru it, put it back.

5- run the wires down the inside of the steering column lwr cover, over the fuse panel and up the side of your dashboard to the base of the A-pillar. I lowered the wire from my tester light down and attatched the led wires cos its easier to pull them up than feed them up.

6- join them to the wires on the plug as described earlier. I did it on the up-side plug by shaving the insulation from the wires and wrapping them tightly but only cos I don't have a soldering iron. Tape them up, connect the plug, press unlock and behold, you can finally see your ignition barrel!

7- put everything back where it was, finish your beer, take victory photos and go inside to get more beer. When you put the two halves of the steering column back together, at the back of the lower half it has two hook-tags so make sure you hook the halves together. I had trouble rejoining them until I realized.

Now that you've read all this, here's a link to the Youtube vid I used to find out where tf to join the wires (after removing every single fuse one by one to work out which served the interior lights. Turns out none of them did  ) thanks Steve!!!
