Boost pressures

Does anyone know what the factory set maximum turbo boost pressures are for a PX2 ? According to my very expensive RedArc gauge that indicates Turbo Boost Pressure, EGT and Oil Pressure the turbo boost relief valve on my Wildtrak opens at 25 psi - bloody ridiculous in my opinion and way too high so I'm assuming the gauge is poorly calibrated. I'm guessing the maximum would be no more than 20 psi but I've been known to be mistaken before and I'm also aware that the Le Mons Audi racers operated on 35 psi but the fuel they were running on had zero resemblance to what we plebs refer to as Diesel !!!

No, most probably don't have an aftermarket gauge and reading from the OBD port will only ever show around 22psi max. Did you not have the turbo replaced and tuned? If yes I would not be surprised. Stock I saw 19 to 20psi and I expect most other do also.

I have only seen a high of 19-20 psi on the ultra gauge, this is with a mechanically standard 2016 PX2 XlS.

Stewart, Yes I had the original PX2 turbo replaced with an uprated PX1 turbo, the DPF removed and replaced with a Roo Systems Legendex 3" exhaust, as I explained the PX2 turbo shaft doesn't have any thrust bearings - which is possibly the contributing factor to there being so many PX2 turbo failures as well as having a smaller compressor fan whereas the PX1 turbo had 270 degree thrust bearings and the HPF unit has an increased compressor and generator fan wheels (+15%) in what is otherwise an identical external casing. I'll contact HPF today and see if the pressures of 25psi are correct and if not I will need to get the waste gate adjusted.

The exhaust gas temperature runs at below 300 degree C which for my desert touring is ideal, almost zero chance of causing grass fires !

HPF set the turbo boost to 24 psi with the upgrade X11 turbo

Yes, Matt confirmed that to me the other day - it would seem that their modified PX1 X11 turbo can produce to to 30 psi, -- which is the pressure in the Forefront Industries alloy hot pipe prior to the throttle control body that I'm reading, then (apparently) the butterfly in the throttle control governs the volume pressure down to 24 psi to avoid engine calamities of an explosive nature. You can just make out the boost pressure take off under the pipe.

Its made by KoyoRad. All alloy construction and holds 1/3 more coolant than the standard radiator with an optional ATF cooling coil built into the bottom can (extra cost of course) and if requested a 1.4" NPT tapping in the top can for a low coolant alarm. Its a drop in replacement and no alterations are needed short of circumsising the top and bottom hoses by about 15mm. Cost is around $1200 for the standard radiator.
