As part of my introduction I thought that I would provide a warning about the Cheap USB power adaptors that go into cigarette lighter sockets. On a recent trip I had no end of trouble with poor radio reception.
After a lengthy investigation that included removing the active antenna and checking all cabling from the rear of radio and 12V source to the active antenna I found that it was a ebay special USB power adaptor creating so much RF interference that it was swamping all radio reception.
My point is two fold; check all the easy stuff first and second that cheap unbranded stuff even as insignificant as a USB adaptor can cause major issues.
another Happy Ranger day

Yes thanks, I had this issue with usb cig dongle that came with a Dash Camera. It was OK at first but after about 6mths it began to emit RF for some reason. Took me awhile to work it out. Just change to another one I had, and radio was all good again.
