EGT

These codes should work for any PX2 which is fitted with a DPF and measures PID EGT13 which is the sensor in the exhaust, post turbo.

Thanks once again to SAEB for providing the data for this.

Could anyone trying this EGT code please let me know if it works OK or not please.

Mine was working yesterday, but today decided not to. Just a blank space, no idea what's happened as I haven't changed anything. :(

Thanks

Hi Gerry - I will have my car in about 3 weeks, I will let you know once I have tested. sorry I cannot do this any earlier for you.

Thanks Dan, appreciated mate, but I've got it working perfectly now. Not sure what it was, but I think running the Scangauge and Forscan simultaneously 'corrupted' the data in the Scangauge somehow. Anyway, I unplugged everything, including the Scangauge and when I plugged it back in, it all worked again. Trap for young.. err old players methinks. :?

I've found that all of the codes in the Scangauge thread are now working spot on.

Cheers

Can you recheck this when you get a chance Gerry. Compare to Forscan over a wide range.

Everywhere I look I see EGT as 2 bytes but I have used 1 byte.

Thanks

Will do Stewart. It certainly seems to work well and the temps range is what I expect it should be. And as you know, it certainly registers a DPF burn-off - in fact it did another one of them on the way back from the city tonight.

Cheers

I have another 50 PIDS sorted. Amongst them are EGR position %, Turbo variable vane position %, fuel pressure etc.. There must be at least 200 of them for the PCM and once done that will help to see if the EGT on exhaust manifold exists.

Stewart, I took the car for a good run with both Forscan dashboard (EGT13) and Scangauge active. Both units report back identical numbers at all times - they are in sync. Previously having had EGT gauges in several vehicles, the reading are in fact what I would expect from a probe located not too far after the turbo.

I also looked at the EGR% and compared. It appears that SG reports approx. 2% higher than FS. Certainly not a big deal as it is constantly moving around anyway.

Cheers

So does that mean we will be able to get readings off the EGT13 for pre 2017 models?

Pretty sure it will only be available for those fitted with a DPF. You could check with Forscan or a Scangauge to see what readings you get.

Hi Stewart,
Is there a pid for when the last DPF was performed?

Thanks,

Rick.

If you added the sensor to the PCM then it may just work. It's on the to do list as I'm pretty sure it will.

Hi Rick,

The complete list of PCM PIDS that are available are here viewtopic.php?f=14&t=183

@GerryP, I have a 2017 XLS and added the EGT codes to my ScanGauge today, took it for a long drive and it only reads "0". I assume my Ranger has a DPF because I read that all 2017+ Rangers do, but I could be wrong. I double-checked the codes I entered, so not sure what else might be incorrect.

Hi adams,

If you're sure you have a DPF (might pay to have a look underneath if you know what they look like), and you're sure the codes are correct, then it should work.

I know early in the piece mine stopped working and I ended up simply unplugging the scangauge for a half a minute or so, plugging it back in and it worked again. Maybe try that as even when the car is off, there is still some power or signal from the OBD port.

Good luck, let's know how you get on.

Does anyone know if there is a pre turbo EGT sensor & if so whats the sensor identity & applicable PID data.My may built FX4 model last year (17 with DFP fitted) has a sensor in the exhaust manifold.
I presume its either an EGT or a DFP associated sensor?

thanks

@GerryP, thanks mate. I rechecked today and the RXD and MTH data was missing - I know I added it, I double-checked it at the time. Anyway, punched it back in and saved it again, quick drive around the block confirms it's ready the EGT now :)

All models even pre 2017 have the manifold EGT although there does not appear to be an associated PID for that sensor.
