Hi all just wondering is the battery different to normal batteries? because most batteries when not running (charging from alternator) hold at lest 12.8v but I am seeing px batteries only holding 12v to 12.5

Alternator is not running all the time when engine running. It's possible you measured the voltage when the alternator was disengaged.

Checked the batteries on several px rangers with engine not running and found low battery voltage compared to other vehicles. Stewart on my own ranger I have smart alternator switched off so it charges like a normal alternator, 14.5v high idle 12.2v engine off. that's why I think the battery is different to normal 12v vehicles that hold at lest 12.8 engine not running.

All I can tell you is they are a Calcium battery and there will still be some modules consuming minimal power. Also try pulling negative terminal and test voltage with no load.
