I have two Temperature PID,s that I am monitoring. They are both "SAE" PID's provided as Ford OEM as a download available through OBDLink. Named Engine Coolant Temperature and Engine Oil Temperature.

I have read that there is no oil temp PID in the Bi-Turbo. However monitoring both these temps over time, they do provide different readings.

Cant get into the formula but they do track each other with one being more responsive to load than the other.

Are there two coolant sensors?

Stewart will know if there is an oil temp sensor in that model
I know earlier Aussie models don't have one
The PID is available, but there are a lot that are not used on Aussie vehicles

Test custom PIDS and if you see the same reading then I will add to the calc.

Sump Oil Temperature - Measured

MIN VALUE - -40
MAX VALUE - 215
HEADER - 7E0
MODE - 22
PID - 03F3
EQUATION - A-40

and or

Engine Oil Temperature

MIN VALUE - -40
MAX VALUE - 215
HEADER - 7E0
MODE - 22
PID - F45C

Will do.

FORScan Lite also has them as predefined.

More so trying to confirm what PID is being used. Unless I watch canbus on a 2.0 with OBDlink or FS lite then it is an unknown to which one is applicable.

Basically you doing the testing saves me spending another halve hour of r and d on a bench or in vehicle. Far quicker for me to look at data sheet for specific PCM.

Once confirmed I will add for all devices.

Hi Stewart,

Both those PID's display the same value. Only difference is the timing in refresh. F45C is the first to change and 03F3 follows 20s later.

So they both seem to be reading the same source.

The suggested PID's are consistent with the displays I provided in my earlier post. They are exact matches for OBDLink and ForScan Lite's predefined "Oil Temp" PID's.

So the only question is whether this second temp reading is Coolant or Oil. I have seen up to 15 degrees difference. How would we tell?

Pics of tests and My current reading on OBDLINK.

PS Whats with my Battery's SOC?

That's fine, just use the 03F3 PID.

There will be a timing difference because the device has to send a diag request for every PID, it cannot poll every PID at the same time.

"So the only question is whether this second temp reading is Coolant or Oil. I have seen up to 15 degrees difference. How would we tell?" What temp, I do not understand.

Coolant will be ECT if that is what you are asking.

SOC is 55% SOC hence alternator putting out 48amps and battery taking in 14amps.

PX2 does not have oil temp.
PX3 3.2 does not have oil temp.
3.2 Aus delivered does not have sensor.
