Forscan Steering angle sensor error

I asked this question over at the new ranger forums, but haven't had much luck, so thought I could ask here, as this site seems closely oriented around the forscan software.
http://www.newranger.net/forums/viewtop ... 31&t=10996

When I changed out my oil pump a while ago, I had to take the steering rack out, but when I put it all back together I got an error light on the dash (traction control light)
I checked all the bolts and connections and everything looks to be bolted correctly and torqued as it states in my service manual.
I checked in Torque Pro and it wasn't giving me an error.

So, because I live in a remote town, the nearest place that can do any of these diagnostics for me is 3hrs drive, which means taking a full day off work, with no guarantee of a fix, so im tring to diagnose and hopefully fix the issue myself.

So now I've recently got a USB ELM327 module (the type with the HS/MS switch) and installed FORScan on my windows PC and found a number of errors to do with the ABS module and found the error codes I've been looking for.

So I've come here to see if you guys can understand what I need to do to correct the issue, and clear the code.
Here are the errors that are associated with the steering

I assume my other error codes are because I currently don't have a head unit in my car. I took it out for some upgrades.

Looks as though it needs a calibration run on the ABS module. I have not plugged IDS into a MK1 so cannot look to see if it exists as a service function.

In Forscan click on the spanner and see if there is an option to recalibrate steering/ABS etc.

Maybe put up a screen shot of this page also.

OK, I got a heap of data for you.
I found a couple of tools for "re-setting" the ABS. Im just not sure if I should do it or not.

I've also attacehd my saved data from my (AS BUILT Formats), and attached here for your perusal, just in case.

On a side note, when being a little curious I pressed the play button on the BCMii (Main) tool and got this message:

I had a quick read of the message, then looked up and saw a heap of lights appear on the dash, so I pressed cancel and everything went back to normal.
What was Forscan trying to do here?

I just loaded the steering angle sensor PID and found that with my wheels pointed exactly straight forward and steering wheel in the correct position, I get a readout of 360^. My guess is that I need to tell the computer that the 360^ is actually zero.

I must have re-connected the steering linkage at 360^ when I had the steering rack out.
I wonder if I just re-rotate it by 360^ if it will go back to zero?

IIf you're able to let me know how to re-set the sensor readout through Forscan, I'll also have a go at the linkage tomorrow afternoon.

I've fixed my steering linkage and have the angle set correctly. 0^ has the wheels pointed straight.
I cleared all the DTCs and still getting the steering wheel position sensor error.
I suspect some sort of calibration is needed, as forscan states "missing calibration"

Things ive tried:
with engine on, turned wheels full lock in each direction, then back to center. no change.
Went for a drive and drove straight nice and slow (<20km/h) for about 200m. no change still.

There is an option to run a calibration on the ABS module through Forscan, im just hesitant as I've never done it before.
Do you know what would happen if I run the calibration?

Reset all DTCs. no change
Did an ABS module reset (in the service procedure tab) no change.
Did a module initialization/relearn vehicle data (in the configuration and programming tab) no change.

Try reseting PSCM module, and drive straight for about 100meters.

Next I would have said the above but it is not an option in Forscan for the PX1.

There may be something in the factory service manual and if not there may be an option in Ford IDS. I do not have access to a PX1 so cannot look to see if IDS has an option for this.

Is the vehicle driving and running correctly? Have you driven for 15 minutes and re checked faults codes. Does it through and engine check light or spanner or is it just a fault code when checked with Forscan?

What is Ford IDS?

Yes, the vehicle is running, and running well for the matter. I've just done a 1200km trip over the last week, and didn't get any new warning lights up, but I haven't checked if Forscan has thrown any new codes up. Will have a check later this week.

PS, i really appreciate the help you guys give.

It is Fords service diagnostic software.

Which is different to Forscan I guess?

Yes, Ford factory software vs 3rd party software. There are pro's and con's of each. A fair percentage of IDS features have been incorporated into Forscan but not all.

An update on this.

I noticed Friday that Ford IDS definately has an option to realign the steering wheel angle on a PX1.
