As a service measure I replaced the rear brake shoes on my Wildtrak yesterday and at 134,850 kms I was amazed at how little they had worn.

The new shoe linings were custom supplied by Penrith Clutch and Brake Service in a semi competition material that I personally chose, they were the standard 5mm thick, the ones I replaced were only down to 3.8mm - thats hardly any wear at all considering their use, the distance they have covered and being 5 years old but seeing as I had new ones the "olds" will go into my man shed as possible future emergency spares. The inner surface of the drums were almost as new and they did'nt require any machining, just a good scour with a 400 grade glass paper, the "worn" lip at the edge was less than a millimetre.

A big thank you to Utube for showing comprehensive videos on how to go about the change and giving details on how the automatic ratchet adjuster is set and how it works.
