has any one installed a reverse camera on an XL, will i be able to use an aftermarket camera and are there any software changes needed to be done?

You would be best to get hold of the wiring diagrams on motorcraft for your specific vehicle then see what is involved. It is likely your plug on the back of the apim will not have the required pinouts in the first place, so then it will be tracking down a plug you can plug them from then wire appropiatly.

You would need to make changes to the apim asbuilt which ever way.
