I have an ARB Ascent canopy.

I have no idea if they are any better or worse than anything else but it does have remote locking.

Mine's a Flexisport, colour coded, central locking, demister and brake light. Pretty happy so far.

Providing it doesn't let water in, I will also be happy.

I have a sport lid with Tango rail system. I saw it on YouTube and had to have one. I like the fact that the lid is one piece so it reduces the ways water can get in.

The only good canopy is the one that fits your purpose and they will all differ. From the top of my head this is what you should consider:
- Cost of course
- Do you want slide windows? Not all have them. Or perhaps you don't want windows at all but door-type?
- Front window?
- Cental locking?
- Large side windows?
- Does the rear glass door have a frame (if it does it is easier to fit an emergency plastic or panel if it breaks)?
- Will you put a roof rack, tent etc? How much weight?
- Can you open and close windows with one hand or do you need two?
- Size and shape: they don't look so in the photos, but they are quite different. for example, the rear in some slants so much that you lose a lot of volume.

I researched a lot 3 years ago and concluded SMM (the one I have) and Alpha are the best overall. I think ARB Ascent is, despite its popularity, overpriced and overrated, but it sure looks good.

That depends on what you pay for it.

But what ever you buy is always going to be the best, that's why you bought it.

My Alpha GSE is okay. I had to convince the locals to fit the central locking, and I went with slide windows + security/dog screen, and added a vent.

I wanted Aeroklas with pop out windows but they wouldn't do a roof vent through the dual skin ABS shell. Carryboy was considered also. I looked at the local NZ canopies but the styling...

As far as quality, the side window rubbers aren't lasting well, and paint is about as good as the rest of the car (e.g. pretty soft). The supplied roof rack bars seem a bit light compared to my Rhino bars up front. It leaks a bit at the back door too.

That said it does the job and suits the car. I'd go Aeroklas next time - turns out the dogs don't like it in the back anyway.

I went EGR (price, styling, features, access to cabin rear window for cleaning, Aus made) through a local independent reseller (Pride Auto). I installed it myself and managed to get it water tight, yah!. I did have a warranty claim after 15 months (side window frame deformed and decorative moulding shrinkage) that I put through using the local reseller, and it was all handled quickly and professionally.
I was tempted to buy online and get it shipped to try and save a few $, but using a local business and buying a few things together gave me good value and a local person to hassle if there were any issues. This was a good choice as it turned out as other than the canopy warranty issue, ARB kept supplying (3x) a Hilux bullbar in the Ranger part number box...I didn't have to deal with ARB to try and resolve, so that was good.
