wondering about peoples thoughts are about some upgrades...thinking snorkel to improve airflow and changing intercooler pipes as well as straight exhaust after dpf... my thinking is that more air in and less restricition to get rid of exhaust can only be a good thing ..hesitant about playing around with ecu's....thoughts and comments appreciated

Exhaust after DPF is a complete waste of money.

The DPF is a giant muffler, take your exhaust off and start up, it's the same exhaust on or off.

Changing intercooler pipes won't change the air flow rate, but the cold side OEM pipe does split so an after market pipe is good.

thanks for the input rosspat i realize the dpf is a big restriction.. but add a muffler and a resonator i cant help but think that there will be less exhaust restriction without them.. i have run with the system bypassed after the muffler and sure there was no difference in sound...but thats not what im chasing.. i thought that the shorter length of the aftermarket hot pipe might aid the flow rate..just curious as to what your thoughts were when you purchased your plazmaman one..

Can't help with the exhaust, I haven't seen any sort of improvement that justifies spending big dollars.

Removing the DPF carries huge fines if you are caught & it is a dead give away once removed.

The noise can be controlled but the black diesel smoke is easy to see.

The Plasmaman cold side pipe doesn't change a thing, it is just a replacement pipe the same size and shape as the original.

The original has a habit of splitting.

The hot side aluminium pipe from Forefront industries does make it a little more responsive because it's a more direct line.

An nGuage from BPT Motor sport will give you a few map choices for you PCM & TCM, both big improvements over stock.

thanks again mate ..i have been looking at a few reviews about the ngauge and it has sparked some interest..a mechanic i spoke to said that he wouldnt plug anything into the obd port as it can lead to ecu meltdown.. however that said i know that a fair bit of research has been done by bpt,i am manual so would only be looking at pcm improvements..have you installed the ngauge??

Really...... Dealers plug into it all the time, as do thousands of others using ForScan, it's the only access to the modules that I am aware of.

Yes, I use nGuage mapping.

I use the towing map as it is all I need.

I did try the Sports map and it certainly gives the Ranger some get up and go.

A mechanic that will not plug into an OBD port is a concern, how would you know he is confident or knowledgeable enough to diagnose issue with your vehicle.
