Hey all, hoping I can get a point in the right direction.

2016 px2 xlt

Car started running hot recently and checked for codes. There were none through the standard dtc's but during an engine running test in forscan i got the P0480 code.

I recently had the bumper off while fiddling with the headlights but am sure I plugged all things back.

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction to the relay to check and if anyone has some tips

Cheers

Edit*

Car overheating under light loads and temps dropping under idle and coasting

I cant offer a lot,

Is warranty not an option?

Assuming it has not lost coolant and there is nothing blocking the radiator?

Does the fan clutch feel to have resistance?

I have the manual downloaded form the cardigan site but from what I can find it does not help with your problem.

I have registered on the motorcraft site and will download the manual from there and see if it has more info, you may wish to do the same.

I would usually say this code would only apply to an Everest with electronically controlled clutch on the cooling fan but in your can you do not have this nor a condenser fan, nothing.

So if its running how for a start then you need to start looking at the thermostat or the radiator, code still should not apply though.

Thanks for the help guys.

I thought the code may not apply. The clutch fan is ok and works the same as a mates ranger. My thinking is the thermostat.

Had a good drive yesterday to watch it. The temps increase under light throttle and have gotten to 96. When sitting at 96 for less than a minute the thermostat would open full and temps fell back to 88. After a minute, I'm guessing, the thermostat closed and temps started to rise again.

Only thing making me question if it's the thermostat is, at idle/ little throttle, temps fall. Coasting on the highway temps would fall to around/below 84.

Maybe the thermostat is opening but not enough when under acceleration

All this is just the car too, not towing.

Fixed!

Replaced the thermostat and it's back to running normal.
