Bit of a strange one for which my Wildtrack is booked in to Ford later this week.

There is obviously some kind of locking device in the gear lever area that prevents the lever being moved out of 'P' unless the foot brake is pressed. Normally you can hear a very slight click if you apply and release the brake whilst in 'P'

However, after some bouncing around off-road and getting bogged up to the axles in sand on Friday, the slight click has developed into a knock/rattle that sounds like something is about to fall off - The sound still comes from the gear lever base area, only when in park and the foot brake is pressed/released.

As I say, it's going in to Ford in a couple of days but if it's something simple I'd rather fix myself so I know what to do if it happens again in the middle of nowhere.

Any ideas?

Sadly I don't have enough spare time to just start taking things apart in the hope of finding it.

Let them deal with it. It should not happen and will most likely require the centre console to be removed.

You would pull the black surrounding of around the lever then one with the 4wd selector in it. This will allow you to view the area clearly but it my still require full console removal to fix entirely.
