Accessory switch for stereo amp?

Does anyone know where to find a 12V switch when the key is turned to the accessory position?

Following the Ford manual I can find the BCM IG+, which the manual says it is used for UHF etc, but it only gets 12V when the ignition is switched to the ON position, not the accessory position.

Is that for a px2? My PX1 looks like the pic below but that illustration isn’t the right pin on my car.

Sorry, I did not look at the year. Only a quick flick through the wiring diagrams and I see nothing of relevance.

Have you tried Fuses 20, 24 or 31 in the engine bay fuse box?

A test light would be your best friend trying to find accessories at the BCM. If you don't have one, buy one, you won't go back.

I went through all the fuses in the cab and all the fuses in the engine bay with no luck. I guess I will try again in case something was missed.

Does everyone else just hook it to the ignition? I often sit in my car listening to the radio while doing paperwork, leaving the ignition on and motor not running for half an hour doesn't sit right with me...

I double checked all the fuses with my test lamp and had no luck. So I decided to check out the back of the ignition barrel. Firstly you need to unclip the top cover of the steering column (feels like it is going to snap when doing it), then undo the screw underneath. There are 2 more screws (one on each side) that you can only get to by turning the steering wheel to a certain spot to access them.

I then used my test lamp and finally found it! It is the brown wire with yellow trace, turning on in the accessory position. It also has 12V when ignition is off and only turns off when turned to the start position.

It's the wire with the kink in it.

Hopefully this helps someone else!!!!

Good work. That would have been my next step.

Notice you wire colours are the same as the PX2 colours I posted. You will probably find you can trace it all the way back to the BCM.

Anyway, glad you sorted it.
