Alternative to ARB/OME

I recently got a quote for a new Summit bull bar and OME suspension install from ARB and they quoted me $8400 which seems excessive.

Can anyone recommend another brand that's comparable?

Open to suggestions.

Thanks,

I've got Dobinson's suspension on my PX3 and can't fault it. Good ride when empty and rides beautifully when loaded up with the van on the back.

I've then got Offroad Animal bar work on it. Again, can't fault it. I've never been a fan of ARB bar work. It all looks the same, like they want it look like an ARB bar regardless of whether it actually suits the vehicle. They're also really heavy and damed expensive. Offroad Animal ticked all the boxes for me. I liked the look of it, they have hooped or hoop-less options, it was a load lighter than the big 3-letter brands (due to better engineering rather than a weaker design) and a good bit cheaper. I've had it for nearly 3 years now and it still looks like new, which a more than I could say for the TJM bar I had on my previous 200 Series. The TJM powder coat was shocking.

I usually like to try something new every time I kit out a new vehicle, but I have to say that for the first time ever, if I was building up a new car now I'd likely just buy the same parts again. As I said, can't fault them, for quality, pricing or service.

When it comes to suspension it depends on how much you want to spend, from $1,500 to $9,000 for the best
I installed Outback Armour Adjustable, 300kg constant for the rear and 120kg on the front
It has 20 adjustments front & rear which you do without getting under the vehicle, takes about 5mins to adjust all four.
Adjusts from woose ride to van towing stability
Been in a car with ARB B51 and it felt crappy to me, over rated and over priced
I have an ARB Aluminium bull bar fitted and winch.
My idea of a bull bar is to save the passengers, not the car and what it looks like is irrelevant, it's there to do a job and I know it will do it.
Cars can be replaced

I was looking to spend about $4-5k all up for suspension and bullbar.

I don't think you will get good suspension then
I haven't priced bull bars for a long time so I really can't help you

I paid $2600, fitted incl wheel alignment. That was for their Type 2 kit with the mid range IMS shocks.
That was almost 3 years ago though so no doubt prices have gone up a bit.

Thanks,
Thats about what I paid in 2018 for mine - ARB Bulbar and OME BP-51 suspension.
Having had 4 years experience with this suspension I offer the following observations / comments.

The BP-51 adjustment method of the compression/rebound is a real pain. While the shocks are 100% effective in damping depending on your driving style and the track/road surface you are driving on having to fiddle around behind the wheels and under the body with the two "C" spanners is diabolical. It's not what you want to do on a wet muddy road !!
ARB can do better. A dial style adjustment knob on the remote nitrogen can is what is needed.
Secondly the OME 600kg rear springs that I have on mine to cope with the additional, weight of the canopy and fitted out rear tub, ( 140 litre fuel tank and 125 litre water tank etc. etc. ) make me feel like the Pied Piper of Hamlin with a thousand mice chasing me, on dirt you don't hear them but at times on bitumen I have needed to turn up the volume of the sound system!!
After our forthcoming planned trip to the NT and WA I'll be changing to Terraintamer Parabolic rear leaf springs to see if there is any improvement in this regard.

I changed to Terrain Tamer parabolic (0-350kg) in the rear a few weeks ago and I am really happy with it.
Compared to the OEM springs they are so much more complaint and (may be wrong word for leaf springs but I dont find a better one) sensitive.
I run them with first generation Dobinson MRR front and rear combined with Boss airbags to compensate for a slide-on camper when required.
Right now I am tossing whether, after 60k km, I rebuild the shocks or replace them with the newer Dobinson adjustable at the rear.
Cheers
Mike
