Folding mirror operation

I realise that some people have made their own electric mirror auto-fold kits but thats not what I want to do. I'd like to program a PLC to selectively fold mirrors rather than doing it every time the doors are locked.

Some questions:

Are the fold motors monitored in the same way as window motors so they stop if obstructed?

I imagine that the BCM knows they have fully folded by sensing a peak current draw when the motor stalls at full-fold - Can anyone confirm this?

Do the kits that people have made simply piggyback onto the switch and operate like an automated finger on the switch, rather than directly to the motor/BCM? Seems sensible as it maintains any smarts in the BCM.

Anyone had mirror motors fail after fitting one of the auto-fold kits? Seems like a good way to shorten the motor life by folding them several times a day.

Looks like a completely dumb connection to me. If there are any smarts they will be in the mirror motors, I do not believe the BCM play any part at all.

Here are the instructions to my kit viewtopic.php?f=22&t=408&p=4500&hilit=mirror#p4500 second post. You will see it does most of what you probably want anyway. Certain remote button presses will achieve different results.

3 years so far and motors are fine.

I just installed the redtek kit. Its plug and play and works great.
Cant believe the Ranger never had auto fold from factory, mo old 2015 Triton had it which is why i couldnt go without it on the new Ranger.
