PX1 Fuel Tank Size

So editing the asbuilt direct on a PX1 with CCC programming does not really work.

You cannot change one character and hope something will work. When making a CCC change I notice multiple bits in different areas of the asbuilt change so guessing is fruitless.

I can edit the PX1 direct now not using Ford IDS which usually limits what you can and cannot change. Whether it will actually write to the IPC and BCM is another thing as I do not have a PX1 to test on.

If someone has one and is local then I can try changing the fuel tank size if they want but there is no guarantee it will work. It will also put to bed whether it is even possible.

Hi Stewart

I have BT50 with a 140 litre tank but not sure if there's a difference in IPC or BCM functions.:?:

BT-50 and PX1 use the same computer modules if that is what you mean?

Yeah wasn't sure if Mazda did something different with their system.

When my DTE = 0 I still have 15 - 20 litres in the tank and the gauge shows just under 1/4 so as an exercise with the DTE showing 85km and the gauge showing a bit over 1/4 I disconnected the battery, waited a few minutes then reconnected. The DTE is now 241km so I assume that the BCM is looking at the gauge position and resetting the DTE accordingly, will be interesting to see whether this allows me to use more of the fuel left in the tank.

This is a try and see, if someone wants to pay a visit on a weekend to Ferntree Gully I will try it.

I can edit the section for the tank now though where with IDS it is not editable. It is not a guarantee that anything will be achieved or will actually write to the module though.

From memory the pre 2015 model F150's etc had an option between a 23 and 36 gallon tank, so at 36 it would nearly equate to 140 litres.

Anyway worth a try for anyone interested in a visit. It's of no use to me personally so just an offer.

If you want to give it a go Scotty, feel free to flick me a PM.

I'd be interested to see how this goes as I'm planning on fitting a larger tank to my Series 1 BT-50 Soon.

Unfortunately I'm based in Sydney but happy to help in any way.

I need a local one first unfortunately. Everyone wanted it but I'm still waiting.... Something will pop up sooner or later and I will post up if it made any difference.

I have PX1 wigh 140 lt tank and could call in on a weekend. Only live in Narre Warren South but have kids living in Knoxfield.
Provided any change would not stuff up the Bcm as it is still under warranty.

I have just moved to Berwick so you may be in luck. I tried writing to a PX1 yesterday but was having issues so it would be nice to see if it was just that vehicle.

Would be nice to have a look and no nothing will be stuffed up. If I can write to your module ok then we can play with the DTE and if not I can look at getting changes made in the software and we can try again. Feel free to flick me a PM if you're interested.

I finally got my 148L Brown Davis Poly tank fitted to my BT-50. Just wondering if there have been any developments on this. I noticed in the PX 1 Forscan How-To - viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1213 that "Fuel Tank Volume" is listed.

Are we able to change this now?

No, changing the as built does not appear to change the DTE. It would be interesting to see if tearing a cluster down would get some different results.

Update, tearing a cluster down does not resolve anything. It appears the cluster is basically a dumb display. DTE, fuel level, ODO etc is being receive from the BCM/BEM. I do not have one so I have a PX1 cluster sitting on the shelf now.

So it's all stored somewhere in the BCM/BEM?

Is there a next step available?
