Warning "bongs" sound like an 80's computer game?

I'm half thinking I've gone mad/deaf but I'll try anyway......

Just got into the car having had a 50mm lift fitted and thought something sounded odd when I put the key in the ignition with the door open, the door-open "bong" sounded a bit odd.

I then drove to the tyre shop for wheel alignment, pulled up against a hedge and the front parking sensor sounds odd too.

I then put it into drive with the park brake on and door open, to make it beep lots - I'm sure that sounds odd too.

Somehow it's like all the bong noises have all changed to something from an 80's computer game, if you know what I mean?

Having "bongs" in your car in this state will get you arrested 😂

There's an option somewhere, not sure if it's in the rhs menu or in Forscan, but you can select chimes on sound system only... or something similar. Maybe the installers were having a play?

Well, by the time I collected the car from the tyre shop it had returned to normal.

Someone on the Facebook group suggested it does it when battery level is low? I'm confident the installer wasnt playing with Forscan but he may have left the ignition on.

hey mate, i've been noticing mine doing that every now and then for a while. I've come to the conclusion that it happens when the battery is low

Well, the car has been sounding odd again despite having 72% battery level 🤔

If your warning chimes sound different they are probably being played through a small speaker in the dash cluster (IPC Module) instead of the cars stereo system. (ACM Module). There seems to be multiple reasons that cause this, but it's usually because the car has detected a change else where and is using the IPC as a back up. For example I removed the factory audio speakers and replaced them with after market, but because the factory head unit has load sensing and the resistance of my new speakers where not the same it diverted all the chimes to the IPC as it though I had no speakers connected. I believe the same thing can happen when the battery level is low, it reverts the chimes to the IPC as there might not be enough power to keep the cars stereo powered up.

Is there a way to get the chimes back through the speakers if using aftermarket?

Just aftermarket speaker and or amp or?

Think it is worth a try to disable the routine to check if the speakers are present.

I’m planning on installing aftermarket speakers, amp and audio processor so I’ll give it a try. Factory head unit will remain in place

Any quick tips on where in forscan to disable the check?
