Ranger Mods

Hi all,
Has anyone experienced any issues with the radio in the Ranger.

DAB Not Available - Once in awhile, I'll start the car up, DAB will say DAB Not Available and won't work until I switch the car off let the radio switch off completely then start again which will work.
Doing anything including changing source and back won't make it work. All the other sources work fine.
This happens randomly, once every 2 months?

Radio Text - this will decide out of the blue to switch off, which I'd have to go into the menu and switch back on.
Night Mode - I use to have the screen on night mode, but maybe once a month it would suddenly change back to Auto I think it is.

Both Radio Text and Night Mode seems to happen maybe once a month. Usually both will happen at the same time.
I've given up on Night Mode so have left it in the default position for at least 6 months but Radio Text definitely still happens.

Tonight both the Radio Text and DAB Not Available happened.
Switched off/on as per above fixes DAB but I have to go into settings and change the Radio Text.


It's an MY19.75 on Sync 3.3.
Tempted to change to Sync 3.4 but concerned there might be an issue here which I'll more than likely void the warranty if I upgrade.

On the Ford website they allow you to see what version of sync they think your on. They allow you to download a newer version and inform you how to upgrade the sync version. You then send them a file created during that upgrade to let Ford know you upgraded.
If they do all this why would a sync version upgrade void the warranty?
Other way is take it to Ford and get them to upgrade it as a service, you say it isn't working properly.
It is still well in the warranty period.

DAB, FM, AM has nothing to do with the APIM/Sync 3 unit. Module that has the issue is the ACM/Audio control module (CD Player). An update to this module from Ford may resolve it, if not then it is faulty.

I have noticed, in the 5 days I have had the new Ranger, that DAB does drop out a bit on some stations, having said that, it now picks up stations I couldn't even tune to previously so there has been an improvement.

IMHO DAB in Australia is pretty piss poor generally, broadcast signals are turned down in certain areas because the ACMA are worried about standing side-waves with some of the legacy bands that haven't been deleted yet, in the future it will improve (2025 i think it shuts down a lot of legacy frequencies?) but for now if you are in and out behind buildings with heavy iron contents (lots of reinforcing) or even just plain old isotropic path loss will drop a signal to the small DAB antenna in the ranger.
