Split second drive loss

Just curious if anyone else has encountered this.

Twice in around the past 3 weeks I've experienced a 1 second drive loss. First time it happened coincided with crossing, or very close to crossing, a metal expansion joint. It was one of the colder mornings with frost and I put it down to possible ice and slip on the metal expansion joint and traction control kicking in.

Second time it happened a week or so later there was nothing like that around and I noticed the speedo drop to 0 then jump back to actual speed. No other lights so it wasn't traction control.

Both times were cold mornings, light throttle and about 40km/h in a straight line. I did have DTCs showing for ABS and TCM modules when I checked last weekend. Took it in today and explained all the symptoms. Didn't mention I knew there were DTCs present as they probably don't like us prodding around in there at all. Wasn't expecting them to find anything but wanted to get it on record as I'm fitting a lift kit next week and don't want them looking for excuses.

I'll check when I get a chance but I imagine they'll have cleared the errors. They claim the software was rather old so have done a "large" update so I'll wait and see if it happens again. Just curious to see if anyone has experienced something similar.

You haven't by any chance put a blanking plate in the EGR? I had weird things like that happen when I had one installed.

The only other time was foot to the floor in the rain the same thing happened as you have explained.

I have since updated the PCM and TCM and don't recall it happening since about January. Hopefully you will be all sorted now with the updates.

No I haven't though I have installed a Provent catch can.

Wait and see for me at this stage. It's already been at least a week since it happened last time but at least it's now on record with them.

EDIT: Noticed this morning it's far quieter on cold start. It was a much warmer morning though so not too excited yet. Even though the cold start rattle was a Jan '17 fix and mine is a Feb '17 build, it sort of makes sense that they'd have components "on the shelf" and they wouldn't necessarily be updated during manufacture unless for a major fault so probably had pre Jan software despite the build date.

EDIT 2: Had time to plug in and run Forscan today. Confirmed they did clear the DTCs. Now I just wait.
