i) Does a Ford dealer normally agree to perform the SW change to cater for the ARB 140L tank? (being fitted today)
ii) If so, what's the going rate to do it?
iii) Lastly, if on say the next service, they load the latest Firmware/Software updates, does that overwrite the change?

I'm reasonably computer savvy and have no issues giving this a crack myself by ordering the dongle etc., just trying to make an informed decision :D

Thanks
Hi, Ford dealers can't change the tank size, Forscan is needed to do that.
The change will not normally be overwritten.

Unless you snag an ARB store that uses Forscan, no, they won't do it. In fact their advertising blurb warns you that the DTE will be wrong and that it can't be changed. And no, Ford can't do it either.

Honestly, if you're even a bit computer savvy, get a dongle and load Forscan with the extended licence (all free) and do it yourself. You'll find a heap of other things here and in Forscan that you'll want to do anyway.

There's little to no chance that a dealer will overwrite those changes and with Forscan in hand, you can simply redo it anyway.

Do it... get the dongle, you'll enjoy it. :)

@RossPat - back up your config in Forscan, make changes, if you don't like the results you can reverse your changes or load the back up file.

Had my first play with Forscan tonight. Followed your "How To" after reading the entire post. I don't have a long range fuel tank but disabled the rear indicator failed bulb sensor, turned off the pesky door chimes and added the Climate menu to my left hand display panel.
Extremely easy thanks to your great work. I have bought your DRL pin kit so will tackle that on the weekend.
Thanks again, please keep up the great work. :D

Just thought I'd report back on my own experience with the dongle & Forscan.
I ordered the dongle through the 'shop' to update the tank size after I had the ARB 140 Poly installed. Dongle arrived promptly, thanks Stewart!
Downloaded Forscan and requested the Extended License - 24hr turnaround to have that license key sent to me.
Had a minor issue with 'writing' the tank size change, but KUDOS to Stewart who was extremely helpful and quick to reply with guidance.
Update fixed and written in minutes, with DTE now reading correctly for the ARB 140L tank size.
Travelled ~380Km before Fuel gauge moved off full, then gauge gradually reading through the 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 marks OK.

Hi guys,

Does anyone know how to remove the error code: bdycm u0559 and ipc u0199 ? As they won’t clear? Or tell me what me what wrong change I made to the tpm and or window module.

Thanks,

Blake

I would say you have made changes that do not apply to your vehicle, assuming you made backup then restore them, clear DTCs and start again.

You don't have a DDM for one and changing anything in the RTM will only get you into trouble. Without seeing any asbuilt it is impossible for anyone to tell you what you have done wrong.

Just a note in case anyone else has my experience.

My install in Win10 needed the drivers installed first. (Symptom: FTDI Serial box not present in config menu)

Also, it didnt find all the relevant modules until I deleted my vehicle profile on Forscan and reconnected.

Generally Windows 10 will self install the driver if connected to the internet and worst case do a Windows update.

Deleting the profile was a good idea, well done.

Fantastic work Stewart, I have been looking onto the forscan for my Ranger and wondering if the OBDLink MX Bluetooth or the OBD2 AUS system is the way to go now a days

Thanks in advance

OBDLink MX+. It is the ONLY bluetooth adaptor support later iphones and android whilst giving access to all modules on the canbus. The local product will NOT.

Or if its just for programming then USB adaptors are in the store > https://www.saeb.net/wp <

It seems like it's been a while since anyone posted in here but anyway, I have a 2017 Everest and 2016 Ranger XLT. I have changed the wheels on the Ranger and didn't know about the TPMS till afterwards. I'm looking at your how to guide above and first step will be the dongle, While I'm waiting I do have a Bosch ODB2 scan tool, can this been used or will I require the ForSCAN software to disable the TPMS?

Forscan to disable the TPMS. What Bosch tool do you currently have?

Hey guys, apologies if its already been covered but havent been able to find it.
After setting the nav to allow input while driving as it was prior to dealer changing it on me.

Also a couple other mods such as
Is it possible to get remote starting working on 17 px2 xlt sync 3.0?

I have activated off road display but yaw and pitch dont seem to work (unless i havent been on enough of an angle yet) the steering angle and driveline works, any input to yaw and pitch would be great.

Also i dont suppose theres any adjustments that can be made for brake bias in forscan? (Usb with switch dongle version) As i have a fair bit of weight in rear so a little more rear braking would be ideal.

Thanks in advance

Hi there.
Input while driving can't be done anymore.

Yaw & Pitch is not accurate as the vehicle is missing something, I can't remember what though.

Remote start is available on a PX2, best you PM Stewart and discuss it with him.

Sync 3 has never supported type while driving after software version 2.0 from memory.

Remote start on PX2 yes I can do. Being you are in Melbourne then best contact me directly to organise when you would like it done.

Offroad display does not support pitch roll on a Ranger. Raptor and Everest only.

There is no adjustment for bias, it is baked into the ABS firmware and I will not touch this.

Hey stewart cheers for the reply,

The typing while moving 100% worked on mine from new, wasnt until the 2nd or 3rd service when dealer updated the nav maps it changed. Annoying to have then suddenly not!

The remote start is it just in programming or requires additional module? Whats the best way to contact you?

Spewing, ive heard it also works on fx4 so assumed it would work on other models.

Yeah kinda expected that answer re brakes.

Was a Ford's decision to meet different countries regs about playing with gadgets while driving no doubt. Basically from 3.0 the feature was removed and cannot be re added unless I modify the file system on the bench.

Click on my username and then send me a private message or press the contact button to the right.

Cannot say I have looked at an FX4 to confirm.

Hi Team

Forscan v2.3.37 has heaps of options compared to earlier versions of Forscan. Testing Non-Asbuilt is time consuming when modules don't exist for the options in Forscan. Is there a list of options that only apply to PX2 models?
Cheers

No, but feel free to make one. Combining all things that are supported in various Fords is what they have done unfortunately. Not ideal.

Hi Stewart, hope your trip is going well.

Mate have you looked at what it is that enables the Clinometer in the Off Road Gauge on the Everest or Raptor?

Is this an extra module? There must be a hardware sender unit installed somewhere. I would hope that as my 20.25 Bi Turbo FX4 can read some things (eg steering angle and rear diff lock), then maybe there is a loose plug for and extra piece of hardware as the IPC seems ready to accept the data.

Does any one know what the hardware difference actually is?

There is nothing you will do to make it work. There is nothing missing and it is all to do with firmware. If you change some of this firmware you will break the vehicle and be up for big dollars. Hence why I will not post further information. If it was simple and did not leave dead modules I would have posted it years ago.
