EGR Fault - HELP

My 2017 Wildtrac manual with the 5 cylinder 3.2 developed a fault causing the EGR valve to open when not supposed do. Resulting in lost power. When this first occurred it was happening all the time. I took it to the dealership and they found a fault code (not sure what it was) but they did not know why this was happening, they done a software update to the PCM and cleared the fault code, they have now turned the fault into an intermittent fault. I took it back to the dealership and they said it did not fault while they had it and still can not tell me why this is doing this. Some days this problem will occur constantly and other days it will not occur once. Anyone out there have any ideas?? It is booked back in with the dealership, and I told them to take it and not return it until it is fixed!! Just hoping I might be able to give them a few pointers if this has happened to anyone else.

Cheers Stuart

Have not heard of it, I say replace EGR and test then if not resolved then replace PCM. Which ever way you are in the dealers hands and they will deal with it in there own way unfortunately.

My PX1 had a similar fault, it threw up weird faults until one day the check engine light came on and an EGR fault was listed. The EGR was stuck shut and couldn't open when the ECU told it too. I ended up getting an ECU power upgrade tune and while they were there they disabled the EGR in the software, no issues since.

Went and played in the mud on Friday, got the golden spanner and driving back on the highway I had a few instances of loss of power, kinda felt like driving into strong, gusty headwinds but was intermittent. Anyway, scanned it at work yesterday, came up saying glowplugs 2-5 and EGR at startup but when scanned again running was left with P040D EGR sensor as the problem. Got it going in with Metro Ford tomorrow under warranty so fingers crossed they fix it first time. When I have the spare caps I'll install the EGR blanks, get rid of the DPF and do full exhaust and tune but for now, warranty will do ;)
