TPMS Sensor issues

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if someone can give me any advice and I am sure this issue has popped up a few times.
I have a 2017 Wildtrack and not long after purchasing it I changed the factory Wildtrack wheels for some wider/small offset Black Raceline wheels in order to fill out the wider wheel arches I had put on at the dealer. Looks great, however when I put on the new wheels I also bought some new TPMS sensors for the new wheels and had them fitted at a local tyre place. All was good and no issues with the TMPS albeit they are not the ones Ford provide. Albeit a Brit I actually live in Sweden and during the winter period it is a legal requirement to put snow tyres on which I had some 275/60/18 put on the original Wildtrack alloys and which still have the original TMPS sensors on. All has been ok as I have only being doing very short around town journeys. But the other week I travelled a few hundred kms and the TMPS sensor warning light now keeps coming on saying TMPS sensor fault. I reset it, but if driving for more than 15 mins at a time it keeps coming up.

I have heard that resetting TPMS sensors won’t solve the problem when swapping from one set of wheels to another with different sensors and that they need to be ‘retrained’? Is this the case and if so is there a simple way to do it?

I could go to my local dealer as the ranger is only a few months old. But if its only a case of retraining and its straightforward to do this then less hassle to do it myself considering i’ll be swapping wheels over twice a year at least. The other reason why I don’t want to go to the ford dealer is I changed the grill to an expensive Raptor one, but i’ve heard they may frown upon this as supposed issues with airflow. I must say not had any issue at all, but just seems a lot of hassle to swap back to the factory fit grill if I can do the TMPS retrain myself.

Anyway any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers and Happy New Year to all you guys :D

Mark
