Stewart,
Sorry if this is off-topic or addressed elsewhere but I cannot find it.

Is it possible to disable the Sync2 screen to light up when you open the door without the key in the ignition? I have the car in silent mode (installed by you :-) ) but the screen still turns on.

And since I am at it, what about the powerpoints? I hate it that if I leave the phone plugged in to the USB, everytime I open the door the phone wakes up.

Thank you,

Jose

Try this one for Sync2

My first post viewtopic.php?f=12&t=420&p=1373&hilit=sync2+start#p1373

You could try setting the power point timeout to 1 and see what happens. Earlier models default was 5200sec or something like that. You will find it in the BCM non asbuilt area under power point timeout.

just doing some reading and seeing if anything has changed in the newer versions, not done any changes in 6 months until Ford did the sync3 maps update now I get that block when using sat nav screen while driving so that needs to go.

was updating new Forscan and seen i only had standard licence but i have done the full changes before so do we need extended as the site says they dont usually give extended as its not required?

cheers bud

You only need the extended license if you want to change anything.

When expires in two months and you need to alter something, just get it again.

Forscan are saying you only need extended for programming key fobs not changing asbuilt option?

Asbuilt changes require extended FREE license. As per Ross's link for further information.

Just been playing with the settings today. Done all the changes i wanted. Just have a couple questions. I have changed the speedo value to 0977 (maximum before errors) and with that sorted i have adjusted the value for the odometer (pcm 7E0-01-01) to xxxx-6298-xxxx(i run 285/70/17tyres) after seeing a previous discussion showing this value for this size tyre. Question 1. How is the number 6298 calculated?

Secondly, is there any way to remove that annoying warning/message that appears when u want to use navigation on sync 2? Its a pain in the arse having to press ok after everytime u turn off and start up again!

I do not run Sync2 anymore but from memory, don't press anything, it goes away by itself after approx 20 seconds. Only other way is possibly to change the country code which I do not recommend as it is an unknown if it disables other functions or may not call 000 in an accident.

6298 hex is 25240 decimal, divide by 10 is 2524 mm tyre circumference. That figure will be approx 4% out due to the Ford fudge factor with what the BCM sees and what the cluster sees.

Thanks for the navigation system tip.

So 6298 hex equals a tyre circumstance of 2524mm. Correct me if im wrong but isnt the circumfrence of 285/70/17 2609mm? Would this make the value of 6298 incorrect or is it the same as the speedo callibration where any bigger value entered than 6298 will cause error codes?

Does this 4% fudge factor apply to the odometer/dte etc? Or just the speedo or both speedo and odometer/DTE?

Cheers Dave.

There is no enable Sat Nav input in motion on a Sync3.

I not sure what release it will be but I'm pushing for Forscan to decide if the system is Sync 2 or Sync 3 so only the appropriate options will show up.

Turning off the ignition for 20 seconds or longer is usually enough for the new asbuilt options to be picked up but worst case turn off and wait a few minutes.

I don't have an issue entering an address using factory maps while driving but if using Carplay or Android Auto then no option will ever change this in the asbuilt. For Android Auto, talking to the damn thing actually works really well, google understands me better than any other system.

What Firmware version is the Sync 3 running? It will be in the general area.

dam i have been looking everywhere for the in motion sat nav input options as seen it in the old version and didnt know that the new forscan hides it when selecting sync 3.... I never used to have the warning until Ford did the new map update so it must be written into the maps file?

Yes the code is. Push the off button down the bottom of the air controls. If the unit is off then the outside vents are closed, A/C is off, fan is off. Everything is closed and off.

If you want recirculated air to move then turn unit on and press recirculate and turn fan to required speed.
Can the recirculated air on without the fan on?
Recirculated air is on when you turn push the button and turn it all off. Orange light on, range light off. So light is off, re-circulation is on, and fan is off. To achieve what you want to achieve is just a matter of turning the unit off.

yeah we were chasing asbuilt codes for the recirc ages ago, the easiest fix i found was set vent to whatever you want permanently and then pull damper plug out so it cant change its position no matter what the car tries to make it do as i got sick of the vent opening on its own when starting the car and letting in traffic exhaust if not closed again.

Going too large on the PCM can also cause DTCs. 2524 plus 4% actually equals 2624.96mm, the true figure is approx 3.3% which equals 2607.292mm so close enough to 2609mm.

From reading Ford docs on the Ranger the PCM applies to the odometer and BCM speedometer. I have never measured it so feel free to post any feedback.

As mentioned 100 other times on various posts the speedometer is about 4% out to be correct or more like 3.3% to be more exact.

Perfect mate, thanks for the help. I will take notes and recordings on how much the figures(odometer, speedo, DTE, fuel economy) change and report back.

Hopefully its a little closer than what it has been, i know it wont be bang on but close enough is good enough for me.

Cheers Dave.

Do not use Sync3 changes on Sync2 or Sync2 on Sync3. I had the option added for a reason as repairing peoples Sync systems was taking up way too much time. For Sync3 there is no way to disable the typing while driving, try to disable it and you will no be impressed.

Every map update usually comes with a firmware update, so firmware can block quiet a few things.

I will look into this at some point once I pull the files from the Sync3 unit on the bench. As for Carplay or Apple maps I doubt this could be overridden as the data would be coming from the phone.

I seen it in the old Forscan non Asbuilts before the sync selection but never used it as sync3 didnt need it back then but now it dose, dont think back then it had a sync version was just there. not silly enough to try and cross versions and differentiating the versions is a great idea.

For Syn3 there is not over ride. It does not exist and is not an asbuilt or non as-built option (Same thing).

For Syn2

APIM as-built 7D0-02-01 5753 xxxx xxxx

I think the latest Sync2 update may have killed it also.

No guarantees that emerancy assist will work any longer as I never did crash the car to test it out.

Thanks for all your work. Have enabled Silent Mode, updated tank volume (assuming the non ASBUILT value is already in litres, as the default was 80), and increased Power Point Timeout to several hours.

Questions: what is the theoretical maximum value for Power Point Timeout? And is this in seconds? I also mentioned in another post that this value does not seem to affect the 240v outlet. Any way to keep that on when ignition is off?

My most pressing feature request now is to disable the double beep when you close the door while engine is running. Tried the option to disable horn on double-press of remote key, which is what was suggested to someone else to try. Didn't work.

The other thing I am still looking for, and I think it's been looked at before, is a way to keep the air con recirculation on all the time, through ignition cycles. At the moment, whenever I press Auto A/c, or when I have the A/c on auto and restart the car, the recirculate turns off.

Again, thanks for all your help. Donation coming shortly.

I can only assume PP timeout has been hardcoded in the BCM firmware or they have changed the wiring and it is not controlled by the BCM anymore. Either way I see no additional asbuilt options controlling them independently from each other. You should be able to go all the way to 24hours although BMS will shut it down well before this.

Double honk while sitting in seat and engine running? Or is the engine running and you get out of the vehicle, if so then this is possibly because the passive key is in your pocket and the vehicle is telling you the fob is not with the vehicle any longer.

Aircon, no. There are multiple threads about this search.php?keywords=recirc

Yes, when I leave the vehicle with the fob in my pocket. I want to disable that. I need to be able to leave the vehicle with the engine running and air con on in Alice Springs weather! I know I could leave the fob in the car, but would prefer to keep it with me to prevent someone jumping in and driving off.

Oh, and I have also increased my battery charge state to 90%. Can't believe the default is so low! What do they want, to make us ruin our batteries more often? The absolute worst thing for Lead Acid is for voltage to drop too low.
