False AdBlue Warning

For the second time since I've owned this truck, I received a false AdBlue warning, despite the AdBlue tank being over half full. Both times this has happened, I was low on fuel and the low fuel warning came on. In both cases, after I filled up the tank, the low AdBlue warning came on.

This confused me, as there should have been several thousand kilometers left before I came close to needing to top off the tank. Most of the stations here have separate pumps to dispense AdBlue, which means I don't have to buy five or ten liter bottles of AdBlue. Both times, I added about nine liters before the AdBlue tank was full, but the warning light and alarm would not immediately go out like the low fuel warning did.

The second time this happened, at 28,530 kilometers, I made an appointment at the nearest dealer to look at it because I didn't want to drive it to the point where it wouldn't start. Unfortunately, the earliest the dealer can see me is later next week. When the low AdBlue alarm went off, the display showed I had 1,243 kilometers to go. After driving about 190 kilometers yesterday, the alarm message still showed 1,243 kilometers to go.

As I was driving home from my last stop, the alarm cleared and the warning light went out, but I didn't notice this until I was backing into my garage. The warning and light were present when I started on my drive home, which was 21 kilometers and cleared somewhere along my trip home.

Has anyone else seen this problem and know of the reason?

There have been issues at times with AdBlue level sensors, best to talk to your dealer about it to see if they have further info.

I've had it twice, within a month of drainers visits.

It was "looked at" and no problem identified.

Had been ok now for 3 months and about 10,000ks

The dealer looked at my truck and didn't find anything wrong with the sensors. The problem cleared itself after 250 kilometers.

The one time when I had a legitimate AdBlue warning, when the truck was new, the kilometers available for driving decremented in step with the odometer and updated each time I started the truck. As soon as I put about 18 liters of AdBlue in the tank, the warning was cleared immediately.
