I'm glad you got it sorted.

There is no enable Sat Nav input in motion on a Sync3.

I not sure what release it will be but I'm pushing for Forscan to decide if the system is Sync 2 or Sync 3 so only the appropriate options will show up.

Turning off the ignition for 20 seconds or longer is usually enough for the new asbuilt options to be picked up but worst case turn off and wait a few minutes.

I don't have an issue entering an address using factory maps while driving but if using Carplay or Android Auto then no option will ever change this in the asbuilt. For Android Auto, talking to the damn thing actually works really well, google understands me better than any other system.

What Firmware version is the Sync 3 running? It will be in the general area.

Sjbrown6029 wrote: Thu Mar 15, 2018 1:26 am Many Thanks Stewart. Re-wrote just APIM 7D0-02-01 back to factory, did a factory reset on Sync3 and still no maps but then re-wrote the complete APIM As-builts (as you suggested!) and recovered the maps! :D
I think I may have caused this at some point as Forscan tells you it has written successfully and to power cycle ignition but in the case of APIM changes you need to sit tight and wait for the Sync software to reboot first. It’s more obvious this is happening on a Sync2 as you get a progress bar where as the Sync3 just gives a blank screen for some time followed by the Ford logo as it reboots. Def need to take your time for this to occur before killing the accessories!
Just to stress to anyone reading this, the quick change page for the APIM is for Sync2 only and isn’t compatible for Sync3 at the moment.
If anyone can tell me the APIM as-built change required to enable Sat Nav input in motion on a Sync3 fitted Everest I’d be very greatful!
I've just done the same thing. Do you mind sending me a pic of your as built (factory) settings?

Thanks for this. I heard / read that APIM is updated back to ford when Auto Updates are enabled? I downloaded my asbuilt details and indeed 7DC-02-01 was the wrong setting (based on your post)

I then came here for info and found your experience.

Thus, last night, I have changed back 7DC-02-01 and followed your directions (I think part of my issue was not waiting for the reboots between cycle ign). I got English Aus back but have no Navigation tab / GPS at all. I assume the reset mention in the posts is the 'Master Reset' from the General menu in Sync3?

Any further detail or info would be appreciated - I really NEED my Nav!

My steps were changing 7DO-02-01 from 4353 0104 to 4153 0104. I selected write on this one address, the Sync3 did a reboot, cycled the ignition and no change. Did the Master Reset on the Sync3 - no change. Cursed the gods. Went back into the APIM as-built confirmed all were back at factory and in desperation selected write all. (This would typically say no changes made on my Sync2 and I don’t recall if this happened on this occasion or not) The Sync3 did a reboot and when I selected navigation instead of the error it said loading maps which took about 2min and they were back before an ignition power cycle (I think with the APIM this might be unnecessary as the screen does the reset) Good luck.

Thanks for your help @sjbrown6029 but still not working for my 2016 Everest Trend.

General plea for help here. I cant bring my Nav back into Sync 3 after changing settings in the APIM module with recent Forscan release. Yes I broke golden rule and didn't back it up before touching.

Here's what I've tried
1. Comparing my VIN as built data from motorcraft service (it says 7d0-02-01 is 4353 0104 c035). I read that this data can be overriden by vehicle updates for the APIM module. So I'm not confident it was right.
2. I've tried the settings from sjbrown above also but no difference

My process for effecting change is to update APIM as built -> Write All -> allow sync3 to reboot -> perform master reset (general settings menu) -> wait for reboot

Can anyone send me a known working ASBUILT to compare my entire APIM module?

Does anyone else know what could be causing issue here?

PS - have now noticed DTC for APIM U2101.00-0B Control Module Configuration Incomplete

Hi vfast,

I have a 2017 XLT with Sync3 and it all works, including being able to input while driving. This is a snapshot of my APIM if it's any help...

Good luck mate. :)

Edit: It's not totally 'as per factory' by the way, I am displaying a Raptor splash screen... can't remember if I've changed anything else, but it all works fine.

Follow this guide and see if it sorts your issues.

Nav in motion fix

Its nearly a certainty that you have a wrong value in another area of the APIM asbuilt.

1. Save the asbuilt file to the desktop
2. Open the APIM asbuilt editor
3. Press load all, load the file you just saved. You may need to change the drop down box for file type on the right from .abt to .ab
3. Press write all.
4. You now have your factory asbuilt loaded.
5. Press the stop button to end the APIM configuaration and exit Forscan
6. Do a hard reset on the Sync 3 unit
7. Open Forscan again and connect to the vehicle
5. Press the yellow triangle on the left menu and read and clear all fault codes.
6. Your DTC may or may not clear at this point.

If you still have a nav warning. # Note, this menu system is based on the new v3 update so some items may appear to look different or be in a different location but they are there.

1. Turn key to accessories.
2. Make sure the radio is turned on.

3. Press and hold the eject and forward seek buttons until the test tone comes up. Let it go through its process until it takes you to the menus.

5. Scroll nearly to the bottom and you will see Remove navigation fault If it is greyed out like mine then there are no faults, if it is black lettering then there is a fault so press it.

Appreciate it Stewart

#6 - Hard Reset is the 'Master Reset' in General section of Sync3?

I have now followed instructions - thanks for taking the time there! Sadly no notable change. I have NO Nav button in Sync3

Firstly, save your apim asbuilt from Forscan and send it to me in a PM.

Secondly, did you make any other changes to any other modules?

Hi All
Big thanks to Stewart for getting me out of the shit here. I was able to enter the correct settings for my APIM which restored the NAV function. Then by following the above service function was able to clear the 'Navigation Fault' error I was left with and I'm back working.

Moral of the story is BACKUP BEFORE ADJUSTING any settings. Keep outta APIM if possible!

Hi all,

I seem to be having the same issue as vfast. Sync3, updated the same module - no DTC's.

I can get it back temporarily by disabling and then enabling the 'navigation input while driving' setting, but as soon as I turn the car off and back on I get a navigation fault again.

I tried the defaults from motorcraftservice but no luck.

Any help would be great!

Changing the country code will not work on Sync3. There is no navigation input while driving change applicable or that works for Sync3.

Write your whole ab file back that you downloaded from motorcraft and not just parts of it. The above instruction set I wrote above is the fix and it does work and did resolve vfast's issue so please make sure you follow it 100% then report back.

I generally get a Nav fault due to using an aftermarket antenna although I just go and clear the fault in test settings. You can enable the test settings menu to be a default menu on Sync3 without pressing the hard buttons by the way. It will end up being the last menu item in the setting screen.

Hey Stewart, Do you have any details on what the other test menu settings do?

Hey Stewart, thanks for getting back to me so quick. I followed the instructions you sent (even updated every module, not just APIM) but still couldn't get it to work. Once I sat down and worked on it for an hour I finally figured it out.

Turns out the asbuilt I downloaded from motorcraftservice aren't correct. The thing that tipped me off was my raptor screen stayed on even after I used their codes. I definitely don't have a raptor :)

I changed the country code back myself still no dice.

I had a look at GerryP above and my 7D0-01-02 codes where totally different - no idea how these got changed, but matching his settings above got my navigation back.

But for the next person, my motorcraftservice settings did not work.

Thanks Stewart and Gerry, you guys are both lifesavers :)

Sorry I should have said if the vehicle has been connected to wifi it uploads your changed asbuilt to Fords servers, hence why you were not getting any change as you were just downloading the same modified asbuilt again.

Use https://www.motorcraftservice.com/asbuilt you would have had an "/" on the end of the URL, giving you the error.
