Primarily wanting something that will give me live transmission temp readout. Naturally any other tools might be useful in the long run.
Mentioned in dispatches here and elsewhere that I have read are
- OBDLink® MX+ used with a variety of aps for Android and Iphone - Forscan etc
- Ultraguage, Blue or MX 1.4 [the latter is, but assume both these are, wired and intended to be left connected with correct battery management settings
Any opinions out there on which is the standout, if any. I think I like the fact that the Ultraguage is hardwired to the OBD terminal and is a standalone device rather than bluetoothing or wifi-ing to a smart phone.
But does the MX1.4 read out Transmission temp?
Apols if there is already a thread about this that I missed. And Stewart, feel free to remove if that is the case.
Cheers.

Hi.
An Ultraguage or Scanguage will do everything you want to do.
Both will read Trans temps but they aren't on the gauges by default, they have to be entered manually.
There are many custom PID's available and are all on this site.
Go here to read up on the Ultraguage.

Although this is a Bluetooth model, it works well.
This model works on Android & IOS

Thanks RP, somehow I missed that. Well, I saw the page but not important bit; Stewart's very first post.
Ok. so the Ultraguage "has the potential to access manufacturer parameters", but not a standard feature. Maybe not the OBDlink MX+
And it is only the Ultraguage MX model that can do this [https://ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/supp ... mx-FAQ.htm]
As mentioned I like the idea of a hardwired stand alone device - the Ultraguage.
Presumably the meaning of, and how to input, these parameters for Ultraguage, from the link in the topic you linked, will be apparent when I get the unit:
TDATA TCTRL RCTRL RPOS MTCH X / + OUT AVE L/R UNITS

Currently I have an EDS - one thing it doesn't do is give me a ATF temperature so I'd like to "upgrade" to either a Scanguage or Ultraguage - pros and cons please and where do you buy them ?RossPat wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2020 1:46 pm Hi.

EDS a Chinese clone of the Scangauge, so it should support the ATF custom PID in the scangauge calculator.
I say buy either of them because they are not a knock off.

The Ultraguage is a lot easier to read and it has page scrolling.
