Error code B12C2 and U0438

Hi all,
I've got two error codes coming up. I've tried resetting them, but every time I do an ignition cycle they come back.

The first one is B12C2 in the BCM. "Puddle lamp"
I don't have a sports bar anymore as I had a canopy fitted by Ford. Can I just turn the "Puddle Lamp Circuit DTC" from 'normal' to 'disabled' in the BCM NON ASBUILT section to get rid of this?

Second one is U0438 in IPC. "Invalid data received from trailer brake control module"
When I first got Forscan and my dongle I played around a bit with the options in the NON ASBUILT section and see what I could turn on and off. Some items gave me a fault code that this item was not available/installed, so then I would turn it back to the original setting. Have I accidently turned something on and not turned it off again to get this fault code? I checked the IPC NON ASBUILT and all the trailer brake stuff is turned off. I have a RedArc TowPro, but my assumption was that this is a complete separate circuit and has nothing to do with this fault code.

Thanks all

Puddle lamp, yes disable in BCM nn asbuilt list.

U0438 is common in most if not all PX3s. Something will be enable in the cluster from default and the cluster is not receiving that messge from that module so throws a code. It is not a concern but at the same time the module does not exist so.........

......... See if "Trailer Brake Control Module" and "Trailer Brake Controller Gain Setting" are enabled in the IPC non asbuilt list. If they are then disable one or both. Aus delivered vehicles do not have a trailer brake controller.

Thanks mate. I've been able to get rid of the puddle lamp error code. No luck though with U0438.

Both "Trailer Brake Control Module" and "Trailer Brake Controller Gain Setting" were disabled in the IPC non asbuilt list. I tried turning them on and off again, but got an error whilst writing to the module. I then went to the IPC asbuilt, didn't change anything and wrote the module again to see if this would clear it. No luck. Oddest thing though was when I re-wrote the module, it changed my language from AUS to UK and also changed the chimes to CLUSTER instead of STEREO. No problem, I just changed it back to what I wanted. PX3 default though is to have the chimes through the audio system, so I don't know how this got changed to the cluster.

Could the issue with U0438 be that the trailer sway control is enabled? Is this supposed to be enabled?

Chimes will not auto change, you accidently changed it. No biggie, I have done it also.
Language will revert on most changes and is normal.

Do me a favour and see if the TRM module is showing up in the modules tab. I looked at a PX3 a few days ago and the module even though fitted did not show on the canbus. If you also see no TRM module try disabling Trailer Sway in the cluster and see if DTC goes.

Unit I look at more PX3 it may be normal that the module is not on the bus but it seems odd unless moved to a private bus with ABS.

Hi mate, yes I have the TRM module showing up Forscan. Do you want a screenshot of it? I've attached my latest backup.

Ok, was worth a shot. This other vehicle may have a damaged TRM. Send me through IPC asbuilt, I want to go through it.

Are the puddle lamps not the ones under the mirror that light up the road so dont step in a puddle?

On a Wildtrak and Everest, yes. On other models the puddle lamps are in the rollbar if fitted.

Ignore the 0438 error. It is most likly a firmware issue.

After going over it all for a while it is the enabling of the offroad gauge that causes the DTC. Even though the trailer brake changes are in the same area it is not affecting it.

Once I get some updated files I will double check, but for now ignore it.
