Everest 18" wheel option

Hi guys

Cross-post from the other forum. Does anyone know about the stability / suspension etc changes that goes along with the 18" wheel package option on the Everest Titanium? Sounds like more than just Tyre size adjustment.

It's not something that's advertised over here in NZ, so my local dealer is offering a set of 18" Wildtrak rims and thinks it's all good... but it seems a bit half-baked to me.

Edit - the Which Car article has a bit more info, including reference to the Everest Trend mechanical components and calibrations.

Thanks
Richard

ABS module asbuilt has some differences like suspension, standard soft, hard, ride height, brake control etc. But the calibration files are identical in all the Everest's. Well from everyone I have ever looked at in the past anyway.

Everest selections apart from Trend is generally different to the Ranger from memory.

Only way to tell 100% is pull the VIN from 2 vehicles. One with each option.

I have never seen a difference with 17" XLT and 18" Wildtrak calibration file or asbuilt though.

Thanks Stewart. From what I read, a DIY wheel swap would entail springs, shocks, LCAs, plus whatever programming is different. Getting VINs over here wouldn't be possible (it's an AU market option) so I'll let it go.

I'm amazed they went to that much trouble with the different trim levels. If only Ford put that much effort into the transfer case and traction control...

I would be interested in finding out if there is a difference. I have a Titanium so can supply a VIN.

For anyone that wanted to change all involved, the cost would just not be worth it. I could change my ABS module across to an Everest setup pretty quickly but who knows what it actually changes so I just say leave it all alone.

jknibb, you would need to compare the VINs at the dealer for hardware differences. Expect stupid looks and wtf thoughts. You will not get an answer and the time spent going through the catalogues would be best spent taking a Mustang for a drive around the block sideways.
