Auto Headlight Sensitivity or Parker DRL Mode

Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the Auto Headlights (Oct 16 XLS) or is there a mod to make the parker lights always come on when auto headlight is selected? so the parkers and tail lights are always on when car is on? they turn on every bloody time i open the door, so i hope this is possible...

also looking at putting aftermarket DRL in but would like the parkers and tailights to come on with them as well with headlights in auto.

For an XLT yes, for an XLS have not tried it but it should work. Basically there are some changes in the IPC and BCM.

I'm unsure if the instrument cluster supports the DRL menu which you will need for what you want to do. The BCM will support all the changes though. If the cluster does not support it then replace it with an XLT one, I can help with that if need be.

If you make all the changes here viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7 under Enable DRL's including IPC menu then parkers will be on at all times if the switch is in auto and DRl is selected in the instrument cluster.

Thanks Stewart,
i'll give it a go and let you know. so basically everything under Enable "DRL's including IPC menu"?
under the 726-50-01 code do the different ones mean the DRL come on with those lights, or it uses those lights as the DRL?

Yes. You will use the disable lane assist option for 720-02-01 and for 726-50 it will be 01 so change it to 10. They are what will be used as DRL's but if you just want front and rear parkers then 10 is fine. After changes check if you get an additional IPC menu or maybe check your vehicle manual and see if it is listed in instrument cluster menu list.

Backup each module first.

Thanks Jon.

Also I never remember seeing anything related to adjusting the sensitivity.

Hi Jon,

Just wondering if you managed to activate the parkers as DRLs as per above?

I have an XLT in Papua New Guinea, however we have a lower spec, including the more basic dash and instrument panel.

I'm also wanting to activate parkers as DRLs. Have attempted the Forscan code changes per Stewart's instructions but no luck on my end.

Cheers,
Shannon

Not sure if I followed this up in an email or not? Sorry been busy.

From my understanding some of the overseas xlt's have a base model XL instrument cluster and may not support the drl option in the firmware.

I have been investigating the drl option on a 2016 xls, I have been able to get all of the options to work, except for the dedicated drl light option. have sent Stewart an email in relation to these.
It would seem that the xls does not have the ipc menu options, all options can be enabled/disabled thru forscan. Once enabled I would not have a need enable/disable thru the ipc menu, so this is not a deal breaker for me.

Hi Tony,

Were you able to get parkers to work as DRLs?

I do not believe you will get it too work. We found that Tony's XLS does not support the required menu to send the DRL on and off canbus message unfortunately. Basically the instrument cluster holds the DRL status.

Hello sliewy,

Sorry I have taken so long to reply to your question, I missed it on my daily look at the forum.
The parkers can be enabled as DLRs using Stewart's instructions and forscan.
When the parkers are enabled as DLRs both the front and rear parkers will be on.
As Stewart has advised previously you can enable/disable all options thru forscan, but will not have the menu option thru the dash display.

Tony.
