Good to see some of the feedback on here. I am based in WA not far from BPT and this is very tempting. I tow a 2.6t full height caravan and found “reduced power mode” last Aus day towing on a 40degC day. No fault codes or lights on the dash, just reduced power. Trans temp hit a max of 117degC and water temp 110degC. I am considering a trans cooler, trans thermostat delete, PCM & TCM tune. The biggest thing I want is reliability. I have already partially lost that with “reduced power mode” but also understand that when play, you run things closer to the edge which in turn generates heat. My combined weights are getting up close to the 5800kg GCM. Equally when not towing, I don’t want the trans temp always running too low causing excessive wear. Decisions, decisions.....

I think what you experienced was Limp Mode & with those temps I can understand that happening, that is hot.
With that heat and weight are you towing in Sports mode @ a reduced speed?
The tunes from BPT are far from "close to the edge"
I have been in a Ranger with a chip and custom tune, mine is far from that.
If you do a lot of towing then I would use the Towing tune for PCM & TCM, they have about 50% of the output of the other tune.
Sometimes with more power temps stay the same or in some cases drop a little due to the motor working easier.
I am not really sure yet but I think mine is using less fuel around the outer city limits.

I was driving the speed limit (100km/h) and in sports mode most of the time and flicking to overdrive on the flats where possible. I monitor all the temps via the scangauge and all over that sort of stuff. I am lead to believe what I felt was reduced power mode and could have been related to intercooler temps (which is why I recently asked for the xgauge code) I think 120degC throws a limp mode code and light on the dash for the trans. (I was close, but not quite there)

So common on an Everest.
Are you thing trans temp or ic temp though? I have read about both, most comments have favoured the trans temps.
Install trans cooler and bypass and take it from there. That is what I would do and you will benefit from it no matter what so its not loss if it it still not the issue as at least you have given longer life to one component and can rule or rule it out.
I'm wondering if the engine fan is the issue. I notice the Everest has an electric clutch controlled by the PCM where the Ranger does not. I'm not sure of the reasoning behind it but it may be related to also having rear climate on some models.

Never usually unless you have an issue but you can not guarentee they won't. Some people have said that they will ot take it to Ford then, what if you have to for some reason?
Nguage is the better option at this point in time and honestly the Unichip is a PIA to remove if need be.
