As part of my introduction I thought that I would provide a warning about the Cheap USB power adaptors that go into cigarette lighter sockets. On a recent trip I had no end of trouble with poor radio reception.
After a lengthy investigation that included removing the active antenna and checking all cabling from the rear of radio and 12V source to the active antenna I found that it was a ebay special USB power adaptor creating so much RF interference that it was swamping all radio reception.
My point is two fold; check all the easy stuff first and second that cheap unbranded stuff even as insignificant as a USB adaptor can cause major issues.
another Happy Ranger day
