Today's Average Fuel Economy

Here's one that I find useful, it displays your average fuel economy for the day. It seems to reset overnight (I think it resets after about 6 hours of non engine run???) so each day it will display your live average as you progress. Of course, it depends on you having calibrated your fuel usage (as per the manual) so that your fuel consumption figures are accurate. This is described in the X-Gauge manual, but it's a bit cryptic and confusing.

I display the instantaneous fuel consumption and this average value, one above the other during trips away, especially when towing the caravan.
  • TFE (Today's Fuel Economy)
    TXD: 01
    RXF: 8
    RXD: 0
    MTH: 0
You can pad out the full strings with trailing zeros if you wish, or leave them blank.

Hi GerryP, I thought that today's fuel consumption was one of the default readings within the "trip" functions

Hi Fred,
It didn't come pre-programmed (not on mine anyway...), but it is outlined in the manual under the X-Gauge section. However, it's a bit cryptic as there are a lot of other options all mentioned together. A couple of people with a Scangauge have asked me in the past, so I thought I'd drop it here.

It must have been updated then as it is definitely preprogrammed into mine.
