CCM (U3000) Internal Electronic Failure

Hi Guys,

I finally got a OBDLink and Forscan to look at my Forward Collision Assist error and i don't think the news is great.

Background: About a month ago an error Forward Collision Assist not available appeared. No other errors ie (radar cruise control). However cruise control would not set either as adaptive or normal.

Today when i got my cable i was finally able to read the CCM module and got the following error.

Code U3000 Internal Electronic Failure.

The error will not reset, CCM reset did not help.

Is the unit cooked? And any cheap ways around this?

Any advice / help is apprciated.

Cheers Macca

Have you disconnected the battery for 30 min to force a hard power reset?.

Hi Ian B,

Yes I have done a disconnect for 30+ min. I have recently read that perhaps I should short the positive upon a disconnect to ensure no residual power. I have yet to do this. But the disconnect did not rectify. Thanks for the reply tho!

Before replacement, it would be worth checking that wiring has not been damaged/loose. From my reading the CC is controlled by the PCM (ECU) and SCCM (steering column). They talk to each other via the Gateway module.
Has anyone been playing under the dash in recent times?

Hi Ian,

Nothing new has been done recently under the dash or near the unit. The fault only recently appeared. However i will check the wiring as best i can to see if i can find any faults. Connection to the unit is clean and in good condition.

Hi Guys,

Turns out my 2016 Ranger is covered by a 5 year warranty which is still valid so hopefully ford can fix it or replace it. (I thought i only had 3 years).

Being the module can still be read on the bus would also mean the other modules can see it but are getting invalid or no data.

The module is fried and has either been know or may have had water ingress. It does happen more so on the earlier units.

Thanks for the reply Stewart (Saeb),

I have it booked into Ford (Pakenham, as i have had better experience there compared to Frankston). Will let you know how it goes. Also have them checking the glow plugs as i have an P0671-P0675 error and it has blown white smoke on cold mornings. I noticed the TSB 18-2010. So thanks for posting that one!

Macca, how did that play out? I've got U3000:49-28 on the C-CM module.

Thanks for all who had some input RE: CCM module. Just wanted to let everyone know the outcome. Ford Pakenham (Victoria) were amazing to work with considering i didn't even buy the car from them. The CCM module was cooked. Ford replaced it under warranty. The warranty was almost up (extended warranty) and had after market bull bar installed and no issue for them. I also had all 5 glow plugs replaced as they were throwing codes and vehicle starts a lot better than it did on cold mornings.
