4 high, no 4 low

Hi All,

So on the weekend I found that my 2013 PX xlt would select 4H but when I go to engage 4L the little orange gear circle with exclamation mark shows on the dash. To reset I have to turn vehicle off and back on.

I tried this on level ground in neutral.

Any feed back would be appreciated, unfortunately I don't have a code reader.

Regards,
Ryan

Never had an issue. Only thing you can do is read the DTCs which will require a reader.

I had a truck that did that, it was because the prev owner barely ever used 4-Lo so there was either gear oil gunk blocking the shift motor and tripping the overload circuit, or something physically blocking it from shifting in the t-case.

I blocked all four wheels front and back, went underneath with the truck in neutral, removed the T-case shift motor and manually actuated the shift shaft with a pair of pliers. I had to work it back and forth a few times while rocking the prop shaft back and forth with my other hand. After working it through the gears a few times and putting the shift motor back in place, the 4-Lo was able to work again.

It's also possible that you need a new shift motor, or to change the t-case oil, but it's likely just a dirty set of t-case gears that you can fix with a couple of wrenches.
