My UK 2018 Wildtrak

Compared to the serious rigs some of you in Oceania are running, this is lame. However, for the UK, I think I’ve done ok.

I have managed to attach a small winch, almost entirely hidden, which is great for boats, trailers, logs and anything short of self recovery. I’m sure if you found a similar sized higher rated winch and used a snatch block, self recovery would be fine too. There is quite a bit of space behind the standard bumper and if you replace the crash bar (or reinforce it) with steel, you have a great attachment point.

I also managed to cobble some brackets and do a cheaper way of installing any roof bars on to the mountain top roll cover T Tracks.

Bonnet pins are mostly for personal styling reasons. Next are wider wheels and tyres.

I also put two 12v led strips and wired them inside the sports bar to the factory bed lights. They work great and fade/behave just like the factory lights. Easy mod with a lot to gain.

Great work on the out of the box thinking.

Well done, enjoy.

Thanks bud. I also had a little brainwave on the fit of light bar. I unscrewed the factory screws at the front of the roof bar (Torx T30 bit grinder down by half so it fits under roof rails, then use a little spanner) and used some m6 15mm hex heads and washers to utilise some brackets I found.

Just means you don’t have to completely remove headliner and roof rails to fit one. It’s the right distance for a 42” bar, depending on brackets.

Total cost: £6 gbp.

Good job and thanks for sharing.

This is what I want to see more of on here, people sharing their visible mods/hacks. Then again everyone wants to see it them but rarely post them.

As always, pictures tell a thousand words.

Got any photos of the winch cradle fitted without the bumper? Is it the Front Runner cradle? How'd it go fitting it with the cruiser radar?
