Hi guys
I recently sent engine oil away for independent analysis before the vehicle went in for service, the results showed 3% fuel dilution which i was concerned would cause premature engine wear. After chasing up my local dealer over the last few weeks I get the following response;
Hi Glenn,
I have a response from Ford , 3% is all good for your vehicle, Ford have sensors in the oil that will bring up a warning message if the dilution reaches 7 % to 8% ,
Ford allow up to 11% dilution before any engine damage may occur.
11% bloody hell I would bet engine wear is occurring long before that!
anyway can someone tell me what sensor this is, where it is and can i monitor
thanks

Although the PCM has the ability to log
- Volume of heavy fuel in oil
- Volume of light fuel in oil
- Volume of medium fuel in oil
- Amount of soot in oil
etc.
I do not beleive our Thai based models have the required engine sensor for it to work. All my values are always zero and have always been zero.
Euro models with the sensor that will also monitor oil temp most probably but not ours. Also may be more probable on a PX3 with 2.0

Thank Stewart , I thought Ford was making shit up.
I will be keeping an eye on the oil and have it retested at 10,000km
