Brakes being applied by Adaptive Cruise Control

Hi.
Using Adaptive Cruise Control in the hilly area I live in the car does a great job of keeping to the set speed when going down hill.

However I am concerned about the breaks being applied a lot and wearing them out prematurely.

Is there a PID I could use to see when the Adaptive Cruise Control applies the breaks so I can choose to say manually change down to help save some break pads?

Thanks, and merry Christmas everyone.

Chris.

My pre-braking only occurs when I am within the set range of a vehicle/object.
That is what its supposed to do.
If yours is braking for no reason then maybe it needs some sort of adjustment.

If you are going down hill with cruise on then the brakes will pretty much be on constantly.

For hilly roads I go to manual mode with cruise off. I don't know if there is a pid for brakes on, you can look at the list in the software section.

There is, but the PID is hidden with the scanner I use.

Unsure what device you are using but PID info is

Brake Input Switch Status

Module ID: 726
PID: 2B00
0x00 is inactive
0x01 is active

Handbrake PID is the same so being this is a 4 byte bitmapped PID I would have to work out the settings per device. This would be a Feb thing for me at this stage.

A tune may be able to changed the point where it down shifts?

Thanks Stewart.
I am using OBDLink and the PID shows values when either or both foot and hand brakes are applied.
Yet to see if it shows a value when/if adaptive cruise control applies the brakes. Will see in time.

Mine does the same thing (USDM). I'm not used to cruise control worrying about overspeed, most vehicles can coast downhill when there is nobody in front of you, but the Adaptive cruise always maintains X speed which seems bad for efficiency, and brakes.

It would be nice to have a forscan option to turn the coasting feature back on.
