Hi there. Wish I read this earlier today!
Ford recently updated my MY17 Ranger Sync3 v2.2 to V3.0. Since then I've lost the ability for keyboard input while moving.

As above I enabled 'keyboard input while in motion' but it automatically changes the country code to 'CS' which faults the navigation. Manually changing country code back to 'AS' reverts the 'keyboard in motion' to disable.

Any news with an as-built code for this feature?

Cheers
Peter

What you have found is correct. You could try the old one which was WS from memory but I do not believe it works either.

I'm still pushing to have the ability to change address while in motion and the navigation enable removed for Sync 3 as I do have some changes I need to follow up once some tests have been completed. My latest test build from yesterday is still showing them.

For now trail the voice input, yes it takes some time but eventually you become fluent with it and do not even need to take your hands off the wheel.

Thanks Stewart
I tried the previous version enable code but it didn't work, just faulted my Nav.
I'll persist with voice command like u suggest till there's a fix. Wish I had more time to experiment myself!
Cheers

Stewart et al - I tried the above change to type while driving (before I saw this thread) and also lost navigation. Got the navigation fault, country code = CS etc as well. However, changing it back to AS has not fixed the problem. Additionally, the arrangement of functions on the home page has changed; previously, the navigation occupied a large square on the upper left of the screen, and the audio occupied a slim rectangle on the upper right. Now they have switched (navigation in small rectangle on the right) and all I have is the compass, although it doesn't move. Any ideas what this could be?

Sounds like nav is still disable if it only gives compass mode. You will need to go into APIM asbuilt and send me the saved abt file and vin. PM please.

There won't be a fix as such, unless someone wants to go through every country code. Downside will be the emergency crash calling may try to call a emergency number that does not exist.

There is nothing in asbuilt that allows entering while driving, nothing and due to local laws I do not see Ford doing anything about it unfortunately.

Here's a bit of a weird issue I found with the latest PC version of Forscan…. I wasn't able to make any changed to 'anything' without having an extended licence - that included the non As-built stuff... it just kept coming up with a warning telling me I needed a licence....

I renewed my extended licence then everything worked as normal.....

Non asbuilt or asbuilt is basically the same thing. You will always require an extended licence for either.

so just to confirm,
theres no need to use coding now?
everything can be done via the as built quick selection section in forscan?

i would like to find out what all the codes do mean though just for general information and knowledge.
is there somewhere i can get this code information for my ranger?

cheers steve

You will need one of these wp/product/forscan-usb-dongle/ or an OBDlink. Your ELM327 will be useless.

Read some site information and learn a little about the processes before asking for complete asbuilt changes please. Most common changes are now in non asbuilt.

Hey Stewart. I am hooked up to forscan now with every function working and available. Just I noticed there’s more as built modules then there is others? Was just curious as to see if that’s all there will be and the rest you need to know the codes?

That is correct. Some modules you do not want to play with as you could brick the module and you would have no way to recover it. There will be more to add in time, I do have every change that exists for every module but am not putting it out there anytime soon.

You will find in the not to distant future that Forscan will have all of these non asbuilt changes for every module. I can not give a time line as I'm told when we have time, unfortunately.

Hi Stewart. I too have the Navigation Fault on a mates Ranger after I changed the Address input while driving setting. Stupidly I don't think I backed up before changing. Now he has the fault and I feel terrible. Stupid me. Are the instructions below what I need to follow to fix it?

saeb wrote: Wed Mar 21, 2018 6:50 pm Follow this guide and see if it sorts your issues.

Its nearly a certainty that you have a wrong value in another area of the APIM asbuilt.

1. Save the asbuilt file to the desktop
2. Open the APIM asbuilt editor
3. Press load all, load the file you just saved. You may need to change the drop down box for file type on the right from .abt to .ab
3. Press write all.
4. You now have your factory asbuilt loaded.
5. Press the stop button to end the APIM configuaration and exit Forscan
6. Do a hard reset on the Sync 3 unit
7. Open Forscan again and connect to the vehicle
5. Press the yellow triangle on the left menu and read and clear all fault codes.
6. Your DTC may or may not clear at this point.

Hi Stewart,

Are there any non as-built options for the PX1 or an as-built spreadsheet available with code descriptions or similar?

Love your work with the site, very informative.

Cheers

Thanks for your help with this Stewart. We have now got the problem sorted.

I loaded that file that you sent me but it said there were no changes but I hit write anyway. Then did the master reset and it was working at that stage. There were no faults to clear.

Thanks again.

Just a couple of quick asbuilt questions,
1, is there a code for folding in wing mirrors when you lock the car and unfolding on unlock?
2, is there a code for closing any open windows when you lock?
3, is there a code for bringing on fog lights with highbeam lights? And adding an option for it in the settings menu so you can enable and un-enable it? Or am I asking too much :-D
And last one
4, is it possible to show tyre pressures in the instrument display?

Thanks guys
Graeme

Ticked the 'enter address on the move' option while playing around? If so, I can confirm this works...

If you still have a nav warning. # Note, this menu system is based on the new v3 update so some items may appear to look different or be in a different location but they are there.

1. Turn key to accessories.
2. Make sure the radio is turned on.

3. Press and hold the eject and forward seek buttons until the test tone comes up. Let it go through its process until it takes you to the menus.

20180321_182040_resized.jpg

4. Go to test settings

20180321_182044_resized.jpg

5. Scroll nearly to the bottom and you will see Remove navigation fault If it is greyed out like mine then there are no faults, if it is black lettering then there is a fault so press it.

6. Press the Navigation button on the Sync 3 unit and check the maps.

7. Do not play with the APIM asbuilt

Hey guys, sorry if I sound a bit daft but when I'm connecting to my car I'm not getting all the modules appearing as per the screenshots at the start of the thread, using OBDlink LX. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 2017 XLT with Sync 3.

To see all modules you need the OBDLink MX Black model dongle.

You will also need the free extended license for Forscan.

As per Ross, LX does not have access to all of the can buses and is why it is cheap.

MX red or black will give you access to all of them.
