when mines gets to just over 80% and I'm doing more than 80kmh it does a burn that drops the loading back down to about 20%. If i don't hit the required parameters after getting to 80% for some reason (cold engine, <80kmh etc) and the loading gets to 100% then the car does a burn regardless of what speed I'm doing.

How far down does your DPF burn to?

Mine went from 80% and to 95% this morning going to work. (15mins 80km/h)
Then when leaving work it got to 99% (within 5 mins) then down to 20% (11mins 100km/h)
But I had to get off the highway for 5 mins. Got back onto the highway and it starting getting back up to 35% before I switched the car off (13mins 100km/h)
Only switched the car off to about 10mins, got back onto the highway to head home and it went to 45% (15mins mostly 100km/h)

Does it sound right to only get down to 20%? I feel like it should get to 0%.
And it also feels like it goes up quick too.
I have noticed if a burn is started when in the country @ 100 then the burn % drops constantly down to around 20%
If a burn starts in slow and stop/start conditions the burn is very erratic in % drop and time, usually only falls to around 30% before it starts to climb again.
If it is doing a burn and the motor is stopped then restarted again the interrupted burn is erratic.
If I get home halfway through a burn and park it o/night then the burn doesn't continue on the next day until 100% reached, I want to avoid this situation.
So I now keep a close watch on it and if it is around 98% nearing home I get on the Port Wakefield road and sit it on 100 and let it do a burn.
I don't want it to start doing a burn the next day soon after leaving home when nothing will have reached operating temperatures.

Mine never goes below 10%, and it usually burns down to that level. Turning the engine off will stop it wherever it has currently got down to and then it will build up from there until it gets to 100% again. It never resumes a previous burn.

Mine burns every 200-250km, seems very frequent compared to some other manufacturers, but seems to be designed for that and works fine so no need to worry about it.

I feel like mine burns too often.

Mine was doing a burn just as I got home yesterday, sat on the driveway at 25% and got to 15% before I switched it off.
Today I did approximately a total of 100km, half 100km/h highway driving and just before I got home. Another burn down to 25%.

Could that be related to the 4cyl injector issue?
I know there is/was an injector issue and maybe it's creating extra soot due to rich running.

It's a 5cyl 3.2L

Who knows lol

I really don't understand it, so on Tuesday when I went to work it started at 10%, Wednesday it was 15%, This morning it was 15% and went to 20% on the way home.
I did 100km in total over the last 3 days. Half highway 80km/h and half 60km/h, no stop start at all.

Hi, I have no idea on the tech stuff but take mental notes of temps etc that could cause concern. Have a 21 biturbo and have added an OBD MX2 to keep an eye on things. Wondering if the above equation is suitable for all rangers and also if there is a way to check dpf level?
Thank you one and all, first time post here, long time lurker.

If you use an Ultragauge, Scangauge or similar you will need to create a custom PID to monitor Soot %
Select DPF Soot Blockage.

Thanks RossPat, will set up, cheers
Is that open or closed? Or does it not matter? Thanks

I use Open and that gives me the same output numbers as my previous percentage PID
