Add DAB+ to Everest Ambient

I can confirm that changing 727-01-01 (ACM module) 9A09 1A08 06FB to 9E09 1A08 06FB will add and enable DAB+ in the left side small screen's media menu......but not in the main 8 inch screen's menu with AM, FM etc

When selected, it will work, appear as DAB+ and list stations in the 8 inch screen.
If a station is selected, it actually works and you can hear it......with decent quality sound

The reception however can be a little sketchy and mainly only works really well within the metro area (Brisbane for me).

This could be because the antenna on the Ambient is probably not intended for DAB and probably different to that on the Trend and Titanium.
An antenna upgrade will most likely fix this.

Now I understand. You mean the 4.2" screen and not an 8" screen. All 8" have it by default.

Sorry to confuse this.
What I meant to say was that I don't have the DAB button on the 8 inch screen like this screen, but do get the DAB screen like this when I select it on the 4.2 inch screen.

Do you have Navigation on your 8 inch screen?

Have you approached your dealer about the missing DAB? I have never seen a Sync 3 in Australia without DAB and this is what I'm getting at.

I would like to look at your asbuilt, can you PM me your VIN?

PM sent.
I had a look at a few other 2017 Ambiente Everest asbuilt's and they also have 727-01-01 as 9A09 1A08 06FB.

Strangely, some car dealers claim DAB as a feature and some don't.....even though the asbuilt seems to suggest it isn't enabled or present when I check using the VIN (if available).

Try changing

APIM
7D0-01-01
from xxxx-xxx2-xxxx to xxxx-xxxA-xxxx

This should give you the missing icon on the Sync 3 unit.

There is no point enabling the Nav as non Nav are usually different hardware, but either way you will not have the maps so use Android or IOS maps.

You will need to turn off the ignition for about 1 min for the change to take effect. If you still do not see it, do a hard reset.

Thanks for taking the time to help, that worked!
Donation incoming.

I'm not worried about Nav and would probably only continue using Google maps anyway :)

Thanks mate, glad it got you sorted.

Even though your particular ACM has a different part number you may find you can buy the antenna loom from a higher model and add the digital antenna or use a splitter. I would assume there are still 2 antenna sockets on the back of your but only one is in use. I'm thinking they are a propriety connector also.

See below, this is the back of the ACM, this is the module that your CD goes into. Not sure why a CD player still exists really.

Thanks, this is great info.

I have to rip the plastics off to add a switch for a lightbar soon and tidy up some Tow Pro wiring, so will definitely check out the ACM and see how painful it will be to add/modify.

So I had a Focus as a loan can the other day and it didn't have DAB either although it did have Nav. Good to see everything is consistent, not.

Yeah, it's a bit weird why there's this inconsistency.
Maybe that Focus and my Everest were configured on a Friday arvo or Monday morning....

Ok - so I have enabled DAB in two places in FORScan.
The Icon initially did not come up on the screen, but after cycling ignition power again it did come up.
However...The digital channels won’t load and pressing the icon it won’t load the DAB screen.
Selecting the DAB screen through the left dash screen will load the SYNC screen but it won’t load channels.
Any tips?

Have you added or checked to see if there is an antenna in the second port. Low to no signal means no stations at all. Additional changes may also be needed in the ACM. I'm not in a position to look any of this up for a few days at this stage.

The stations only came up for me once I was in a area with good reception. Once they'd appeared, they remained.

I have no problem receiving DAB stations when close to the city (Brisbane), but nothing once 10-15km out (Aspley or Carseldine for me).
It might be that our cars that originally didn't come with DAB may have a different (or missing DAB specific) antenna. It could be possible to change or add this.

Hopefully I'll have time to experiment with and prove this soon.

I live 150km out of Adelaide and can only ever get DAB stations in the big smoke. I definitely have the antenna as I had to fix its mount after the bullbar went on (by others).

Uhmm, The antenna in the wheel arch is not the main DAB antenna. It may play a part (FM Diversity), but the main antenna for DAB is on the roof.

AM/ FM1/ FM2/ DAB Radio With Diversity Antenna
The AM/FM1/DAB antennas receives analog radio waves and sends them through the antenna amplifier and AM/FM1/DAB antenna coaxial cable to the ACM. The FM2 antenna receives analog radio waves and sends them through the FM2 diversity antenna amplifier and FM2 antenna coaxial cable to the ACM. The radio waves are converted into fluctuating AC voltage and sent as left and right analog audio signals to the audio amplifier and all speakers.
